New General Manager at Leschi & Lakewood | |

We would like to make you aware of a recent change we have made to our Management at Leschi and Lakewood Marinas as of October 1st, 2024.
Starting on Wednesday, October 2nd Jordan Glidden has taken over as the new General Manager of Leschi and Lakewood Marinas. We are excited to bring Jordan on to the Marina Management Team and look forward to adding his experience to our management team. He comes to us from Elliott Bay Marina where he spent 10 years in various positions including Dockhand, Accounting Manager, Harbormaster, and General Manager.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Andrew Shroyer for his time at Leschi and Lakewood and all the contributions he made to these marinas and the local community. We wish Andrew the very best on his next adventure!

Leschi Center Lower Parking Lot Closure | |
Please note the drive ramp to the parking lot will be closed starting Friday, October 11th, at 8 PM until Monday, October 14th, at 7 AM. Necessary asphalt repairs will be conducted on Saturday, October 12th. and the ramp will remain closed throughout the weekend. During this time, parking will be available along the street until the ramp reopens. | |

Like the birds, turtles and beavers that surround the Marina? One reason they can thrive is due to natural areas like the Lakewood Sanctuary, the cove and shoreline located just north of the walkway to the Marina office.
The Sanctuary provides flora and fauna a respite from the human pressure on Lake Washington, and even supports a beaver lodge.
Friends of Lakewood Sanctuary, a community organization, provided the initial impetus for creation of the Sanctuary, which is now a designated restoration zone within Seattle Parks’ property.
A recent tour showcased the amazing transformation from a blackberry-infested jungle into a diverse habitat with hundreds of newly-planted native trees, shrubs and flowering plants, such as vine maple, Douglas-fir, elderberry, and Pacific bleedingheart. Wire cages protect many of the plants from beavers eager to eat the tender growth or gnaw on the bark of more established trees.
A work party is planned for next spring to share information about the Sanctuary and spread mulch. Please plan to attend and stay tuned!

We’re excited to announce the completion of the North Parking Lot construction project, which was funded by Marina Management. The project focused on replacing the water side of the lot and reinforcing the outer ledge because of erosion loss.
Additionally, we’ve added new curbing, updated the catch basin to improve drainage, and fresh parking bumpers to enhance safety and to protect your vehicles.
These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a high-quality marina experience for all our members. We appreciate your patience during the construction and hope you enjoy the upgraded parking lot!

SAFETY TIP OF THE MONTH
While many boaters in colder parts of the country have winterized their boats or put them into storage until spring, many still use their boats for hunting, fishing or for fun. Unfortunately, the risk of a deadly accident is increased with cold weather. Extra caution and preparation should be taken before heading out on the water in winter.
The importance of wearing a life jacket becomes even more critical when the danger for hypothermia is added to other concerns. Sudden immersion in cold water can have severe physiological consequences, including cardiac arrest, quick loss of body heat (the body loses heat 25 times faster in cold water than in cold air) and involuntary inhalation of water (gasping) that results in drowning. Wearing a life jacket can keep the boaters head above water, keep the person warm, and provide a chance for rescue.
Wearing the right clothing also contributes to more enjoyable and safer cold weather boating. Consider layering clothing, and including a wet suit or dry suit, to help ward off hypothermia.

Marina Water Shut-Off at the End of October
As the colder months approach, we’ll be shutting off the marina water at the end of October to prevent the water lines from freezing.
Please make sure to complete any necessary boat cleaning or water-related maintenance before the shut-off date. Once the water is off, it will remain unavailable throughout the winter months. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we take these precautions to protect the marina during the cold season.
