$9 Million Contract from National Cancer Institute Awarded for NJ State Cancer Registry

The New Jersey State Cancer Registry (NJSCR), under the direction of the State Department of Health in partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, has been awarded a seven-year, $9,085,109 contract (75N91021D00009) from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to support core infrastructure and research activities as part of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program. The funding will support ongoing cancer surveillance activities at the NJSCR, as well as support enhancements to New Jersey’s electronic reporting systems such as electronic pathology and medical claims data transmissions. Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey Deputy Director, Chief Scientific Officer, Associate Director for Basic Research and Center of Excellence co-director Eileen White, PhD, has been elected as a member to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), a society of distinguished scholars. Offered to scientists for outstanding contributions to research, this is considered one of the highest honors a scientist can receive. Ludwig Cancer Research Opens New Branch Dedicated to Cancer Metabolism

Ludwig Cancer Research announced the launch of the newest Branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research based at Princeton University, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center research consortium partner. The Ludwig Princeton Branch will be dedicated to the study of cancer metabolism. Eileen White, PhD and Yibin Kang, PhD, associate director for consortium research at Rutgers Cancer Institute and the Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, and Rutgers Cancer Institute research member Joshua Rabinowitz, MD, PhD, professor, Department of Chemistry and Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics at Princeton University, have been named founding members of the Branch.
