Tom Lake

and
Our Town
by Thornton Wilder
Tuesday, July 11 at 1:00 pm
Tom Lake is a meditation on youthful love, married love, and the lives parents have led before their children were born. Both hopeful and elegiac, it explores what it means to be happy even when the world is falling apart. Patchett was inspired by Thornton Wilder's classic play, Our Town. Both the novel and the play focus on the importance of being present for the small moments and the here and now in life, which makes for a great discussion topic for our book group.
