| | MILITARY HISTORY BOOK GROUP FORMING | | |
A new reading group/book club is forming around United States military history. Jointly sponsored by the Wright Museum and the Library, the group will meet at the library once a month starting in October. Each meeting will center on a discussion of a history text or a novel on an important chapter in our country's military history.
Meetings will be held at the library on the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00 pm. Books will be available for check-out at the library about 30 days in advance of the next meeting. Members must have Wolfeboro Public Library cards and will be responsible for the check-out and return of materials.
The first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 1 at 3:00 pm. The opening reading will be Eugene Sledge's With the Old Breed, a story based upon his enlistment in the 5th Regiment, 1st Division US Marine Corps during the Peleliu campaign, 1944. The book was adapted as HBO's 2010 miniseries The Pacific. The group facilitator will email a short reader's guide to members early in September. Once the group gets started members will be encouraged to suggest books for the group to read. Anyone interested in joining the new military history reading group may sign up at the library or the Wright Museum. A total of 15 seats can be accommodated. For further information please call the Library.
