The Turkish Heritage Organization will be hosting an upcoming panel discussion on the Uyghur population on April 17, 2019 with speakers Omer Kanat and John Herbst and will be moderated by THO Communications Manager Savannah Lane.

THO Outreach
The THO Team attended the beginning of the 37th Annual ATC-TAIK Conference on U.S.-Turkish Relations kicked-off yesterday and will continue tomorrow as well. THO is proud to support the 37th Annual Conference on U.S.-Turkey Relations.
The THO Team connected with Turkish Deputy Minister of Energy Alparslan Bakraktar.
Congressional outreach continued as Communications Manager Savannah Lane connected with Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).
THO President Ali Cinar connected with Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-R).
THO Partnership Manager Pinar Gezgec attended the hearing of nominated U.S. Ambassador to Turkey David Satterfield at the U.S Senate.
THO Executive Director Elvir Klempic attended the 2019 Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina Gala Celebrating Women Leaders and the 70th Anniversary of NATO. Elvir had an opportunity to connect with a number of U.S. officials.

On Tuesday, April 9, 2019 the Turkish Heritage Organization hosted a “Conversation on Transatlantic Relations” at the National Press Club. The panel included Ambassador Nicholas Burns and Professor Gulnur Aybet and was moderated by Samantha Vinograd.

The USS Ross commenced their transit through the Straits of Dardanelles in Turkey on their way to the Black Sea. USS Ross is on a deployment to the Black Sea to show support and train with allies.

Turkey's Finance Minister Holds Talks with International Investors in US

Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak spoke with international investors and managers of large funds as the International Monetary Fund-Wolrd Bank spring meetings are quickly approaching in Washington.

New Istanbul Airport Successfully Transitioned after a 41-hour "Big Bang"
The "grand transformation" and move of the Turkish Airlines hub to Istanbul took approximately 41 hours and the airport is now successfully running. İlker Aycı, the chairman of TurkishAirlines shared that "successfully concluding its mission of being the home of our brand throughout our 86 years of history, saying farewell to Atatürk Airport was a highly saddening experience for us."

Turkey Set to Invest $11 Billion in Energy Efficiency
Turkey aims to invest roughly $11 billion in energy efficiency over the next five years, cut its primary energy consumption by 14 percent, and reduce 66 million tons of CO2 emissions, Turkey's Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on April 9.
