THO Outreach
THO President Ali Cinar attends the New York City Nowruz program that was organized by the New York City International Affairs Department. It was a unique event that brought together Muslim, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Bahai, Christian, Ezidi & other communities from dozens of countries.
THO President Cinar meets Congressman Mark Green who is a new Member on Homeland Security and Oversight & Reform -- began his public service career by attending West Point.

American Turkish Council 37th Annual Conference on U.S.-Turkey Relations

UPDATE ON TURKEY'S LOCAL ELECTIONS IN TURKEY
Opposition Takes Charge in Turkey's Largest Cities
Turkey held a historic municipal election on Sunday with a turnout of over 80 percent. The People's Alliance received nearly 52 percent of the vote however lost top 3 cities. The AKP party, led by President Recip Tayyip Erdogan, lost leadership in the local elections of Turkey’s largest cities; Istanbul and Ankara. The Republican People’s Party of Turkey, known as CHP, now represents Turkey’s largest and capital city.

Erdogan Wins majority Vote for 15th Consecutive Election:
As poll numbers are finalized and point in favor of the AKP party for the 15th consecutive election on March 31st, President Erdogan thanks the Turkish people, as well as the Kurdish population for their support.

U.S.-TURKEY NEWS
NATO Allies Set to Meet in Washington D.C. to Celebrate 70th Year
The foreign ministers of NATO nations will travel to Washington D.C, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the global alliance. Furthermore, the meeting will cover topics such as Russia’s relationship with NATO, as well as NATO’s role in fighting against global terror.

Economy
Turkey’s Manufacturing Sector Reaches 8-Month High
According to the Purchasing Managers’ Index, Turkey’s manufacturing sector hit 47.2 points in March, marking the highest it’s been since July of 2018.

New Plan Says Turkish Tourism On Track to Reach $70 Billion
A new “master plan” has been introduced by Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, stating that the Turkish tourism industry can reach $70 Billion by 2023. This new plan will not only boost the economy, but reduce Turkey’s overall deficit.

Istanbul International Airport Hosted Over 400,000 Travelers in Record Time
Since it’s official grand opening on October 29th, 2018, the new Istanbul airport has hosted over 400,000 travelers in just over 5 months.

Energy
Turkey's Energy Exchange Market and the Involvement of the EU
Work is underway to expand the energy exchange market in Turkey in order to bring in more players from across Europe said Fatih Donmez, Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister.

NATO Extends Jens Stoltenberg’s Tenure as Secretary General
NATO members vote to keep current NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, on for an additional two years, extending his leadership until September of 2022.

Despite Ankara's Claims, U.S. Can Make F-35 without Turkish Parts
Developments in the F-35 deal between the U.S. and Turkey continue as options on both sides are considered.

Turkish Shipbuilders Planning Exports and Tech Developments
Private sector companies carrying out military shipping activities in Turkey are preparing to export technology to Southeast Asian countries, Malaysia in particular.

Humanitarian Aid
Turkish Aid Continues in Mozambique

Turkey 's second cargo plane, carrying  humanitarian   aid  for people affected by the deadly hurricane Idai, reached  Mozambique  on March 30.
