We'll be joined by: Charles Kupchan, Professor of International Affairs at Georgetown University and former White House Official; Stephen Walt, Professor of International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School of Government; and Ozgur Ozdamar, Visiting Fulbright Scholar at SAIS, Johns Hopkins University. THO celebrated the 100th Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day this week. May 19, 1919 signifies Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s landing at Samsum. Ataturk wanted the day to be celebrated with a focus on youth and the day became the holiday “Festival of Youth and Sports.”
THO Senior Fellow Ipek Ariogul participated in an event this week performing a Turkish folk Dance, Atabari in front of the White House to celebrate the 100th Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day this week. Groups in over 100 cities and 19 countries danced Atabari in an attempt for a Guinness World Record.

THO President Ali Cinar attended the Commemoration of Atatürk and Youth and Sports Day Ceremony in NYC on May 19.

THO Partnership Manager Pinar Gezgec and THO Senior Fellow Ipek Ariogul attended a piano recital at Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Serdar Kilic's residence featuring pianist Gulsin Onay to celebrate May 19.
THO OUTREACH
NYPD Middle Eastern and Turkic Society (MTS) announced that THO President Ali Cinar will be receiving a "Community Service Award" at their annual gala to be held on June 21, 2019 in New York City.
THO President Ali Cinar additionally attended a memorial ceremony remembering victims of Crimean Tatars who were deported by Russia 75 years ago.
THO President Ali Cinar continued with media outreach and appearances on CNN Turk and EcoTurk Channels.

Turkey to Receive F-35 Jets ‘Sooner or Later’: Erdoğan
The  F-35  jets, developed by nine countries including  Turkey   and the  United   States , will be delivered to Ankara eventually, Turkish President  Recep   Tayyip   Erdoğan  said late on May 18.

The chief of the U.S. Air Force says it is still "possible" that Turkey will decide against purchasing a Russian missile-defense system.

181st Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session – NATO Headquarters, Brussels, Belgium
The Military Committee, NATO’s highest Military Authority, will meet in Chiefs of Defence (CHODs) Session on 22 May 2019, at NATO Headquarters, Brussels, Belgium. Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, Chairman of the Military Committee, will preside over the sessions.
