THO Summer Research Program: Research Presentation

On November 30, the participants of THO's Summer Research Program will return to Washington, D.C. to present their research. The program will take place at THO’s office from 11am-1pm. Their presentations will revolve around the challenges and opportunities that refugees face, and how Turkey has dealt with the refugee crisis.

THO’s latest program will offer the D.C. audience an opportunity to hear from various ambassadors on the issues of importance to their respective nations. Stay tuned as we release more information in the coming weeks.

U.S.-Turkey Business Council will be hosting Turkey's
Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, later this month.

On Monday, November 19th, THO will host
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in
New York City. Foreign Minister Cavusoglu will participate in a round table discussion focused on
US-Turkey relations.

THO Meeting with Syrian American Council

THO staff attended a meeting with the
Syrian American Council this week to discuss past THO events and future partnership opportunities.

THO-MEF University: Discussion with Dr. Richard Weitz
|
|
On
November 5th
,
MEF University, in co-partnership from the Turkish Heritage Organization (THO)
, hosted a discussion titled
"Great Power Relations under Trump: Syria and Beyond"
where
Dr. Richard Weitz from the Hudson Institute
was the keynote speaker.
Prof. Mustafa Kibaroglu
, the
Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at MEF University
made an introductory speech and participants including students of the university, faculty members and think tank representatives had the opportunity to direct their questions to Dr. Weitz after his remarks on the U.S., Russian, Chinese trilateral relations, American Foreign Policy under the President Trump administration and its policies towards Russia, Syria, Iran and Turkey. Dr. Weitz also talked about the process and the actors of American Foreign Policy, as well as presented different views on specific issues from the Pentagon, State Department and the current administration.

THO Staff Attends MEI's Annual Conference

On November 8th, THO Partnership Manager Pinar Gezgec attended the
Middle East Institutes' 72nd Annual Conference. The conference consisted of four panels that discussed U.S. Policy in the Middle East, economic growth, and the prospects of peace in the region.

On Saturday, November 10th, THO President Ali Cinar attended the
Ataturk Commemoration Ceremony at the Turkish Consulate in New York.
