THO Congressional Outreach
THO’s development with congressional offices continued as our staff attended the swearing in ceremonies of the 116th U.S. Congress. THO staff met with over 40 members of the U.S. House ofReps. and 6 senators including Senator Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Betty McCollum, Rep. Ilhan Omar and others. Our staff even had the opportunity to meet with Golden Globe nominated actress Piper Perabo.

THO Advisory Board Member Highlight of the Week:
Dr. Matthew Kroenig, a member of the THO Advisory Board is an associate professor in the Department of Government and School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He has served as a special adviser in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, a foreign policy advisor for the 2012 Mitt Romney presidential campaign, a senior national security advisor for the 2016 Scott Walker Campaign and a senior advisor to the Marco Rubio campaign. 

Dr. Kroenig is the author of numerous books and publications and has won many awards including: Best of Print in 2012 from Foreign Affairs for "Time to Attack Iran"; Named one of the top 99 foreign policy professionals under the age of 33 by Diplomatic Courier (Fall 2011); and named one of the most influential Washingtonians under the age of 40 by Washington Life Magazine (2011, 2012, 2013). Additionally, according to the study The Political Science 400, Dr. Kroenig was ranked Top 25 in his cohort.

U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton signals a pause to a withdrawal of American troops from Syria and states that "[t]here are objectives that we want to accomplish that condition the withdrawal."These conditions include ensuring the eradication of ISIS for the reign and protection for the Kurds.

According to recent reports exports in Turkey climbed 7.1% allowing Turkey to reach all-time high levels of exports. The full economic report with final figures will be announced January 31.
