U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff "U.S. and Turkey Enjoy Strong Relationship"
The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff commented on their recent Turkey-themed photos posted on the official Twitter account that they wanted to portray support for their "Turkish ally and reinforce that the U.S. and Turkey enjoy a strong relationship."
Economic Development in Turkey Leads to End of GSP Program
The United States intends to end Turkey's and India's preferential trade treatment under a program that allowed some exports to enter the United States duty free. According to the U.S. Trade office Turkey is no longer eligible to participate in the Generalized System of Preferences program because it "is sufficiently economically developed."
Turkey Says Working to resolve Impasse on F-35 Jets in U.S. Congress
While Turkey is working to find an
impasse on F-35 jets in U.S. Congress, U.S. officials are telling Turkey that it would be "impossible" to pass the sale of Lockheed Martin F-35 fighter jets through Congress due to the procurement of Russia's S-44 defense systems.
The spokesman to President Erdogan has stated that Turkey is currently hosting 5 million refugees, 3.5 million of which are Syrian, and continues to provide massive amounts of humanitarian aid.
