happy_thanksgiving_card.jpg
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.
STUDENT TOWN HALL
Candidates from the Houston City Council, District D, from City Council At Large, from the Mayor's Race, and from the HISD School Board came to The Lawson Academy to answer questions and share information with our scholars about elections.

FINANCIAL LITERACY FROM FROST BANK &
DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY
Frost Bank, in partnership with members of the sorority Delta Sigma Theta presented a Financial Literacy session for 6th grade students in October. The girls were invited to "pick" 15 items they needed to include in their budget. Then, when the banker gave them points for having what they would need (like insurance). Every girl was engaged because they all wanted to win!
The boys were able to consider how to plan for a new automobile while the girls discussed the elements of a budget. Both groups found the sessions to be engaging and fun. Thanks to Frost Bank and our "sisters" who made sure to make finance fun!

Our Frost Bank leader (on the left) is Erika Jones and she is joined by members of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority (in red shirts), teacher Andreau Berry and a lot of financially literate girls!
