MENTOR SPOTLIGHT
Campus programming includes involvement by adult mentors who spend time with students. The launch of this year's mentoring schedule begins on Wednesday, September 11 with a special visit from our Strong Men of Valor . Students are looking forward to meeting and renewing relationships.

BACK TO SCHOOL
As the summer comes to a close, teachers have welcomed the best crop of students yet back to the classrooms at The Lawson Academy.

How can you keep up with the goings-on at The Academy?
  1. Each month we'll send you this Newsletter with info on upcoming events and excitement. Look for it.
  2. Ask your student for handouts -- and check the backpack yourself.
  3. Listen for Robocalls to alert you to upcoming activities, including early dismissal and holiday schedules.
  4. Participate in our Monthly Parent Engagement Meetings: 3rd Thursdays at 4:30 pm in the Cafeteria.
  5. Plan now to support The Wiz! our fall drama and music performance.
  6. Ask questions: we are here for you!

Parents are our partners. Help your student to be a better learner by making reading a part of every day. Pick up a couple of books and read along. Half-Price Books or a local library are low-cost ways to get your student reading. Your involvement will improve student success!

Parent Engagement Makes Everything Better. Join the Monthly Parent Engagement Meetings every third Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

September 19th will be our first meeting of the year. Come prepared to see what our scholars are doing so far. You don't have to join the Parent Community: you just have to attend!

The Wiz! is Coming
Students have already tried out for their participation in the fall production of "The Wiz!". Practices are listed below, so plan to have your student attend every one.

Flag Football Season Begins
The Lawson Academy Tigers play in the Texas Charter School Academic League. Our team plays other charter schools and we are GREAT!

Students leave from The Lawson Academy and all parents are encouraged to support our Tigers.
