Incorporating Strategy in Your Life
3 Point Model – (1) Present Position: Interrogative Assessment
The biggest tool that I have used to help uncover the present position is a model that I naturally used before I knew it existed: The Interrogative Assessment. This simple but powerful form of assessment involves mastery through the use of questions. Asking the right questions will go a long way, because of the effect of asking appropriate questions. Consider the following:
· Questions opens up the mind in contrast to assumptions which shut down the mind. The difference between saying to yourself “I can’t” vs. “how can I?” is a whole universe. It doesn’t matter whether they are self-directed or used on executives or teams, when everyone is on the same page regarding the quest for truth…questions will get the job done.
· Question Fundamentals – The ground rule of using questions is incorporating the basic ones, then building on them. The basic questions are:
-Who?
-What?
-Why?
-Where?
-When?
-How?
With these in your repertoire you can develop sound relevant questions that will uncover the answers that you need. See link below for sample questions.
· Follow the trail: The use of quality questions must be followed equally with the intention of pursuit of the truth. This includes both intellectual and emotional honesty. Intellectual honesty will follow the path to accurate answers no matter where they lead. Emotional honesty is double checking that in the process of pursuing the truth that answers aren’t blocked through emotional baggage like insecurity, the need to appear right, the need to shift blame, and other subtle tactics that people may be oblivious to using.
Using this kind of assessment can transform your life for the better in so many ways. I have posted some sample assessment questions by category on my website on the strategy resource page at https://www.rogerckellygroup.com/strategy-resource-page.html. In the meantime, come up with some questions regarding the area of your life that you want to use strategy to improve.
Good Success!!!
