The Laws of Life: The Law of Communication
Communication is so vital because it is the link that connects us and determines how we function together…period. Great communication fosters great relationships and unanimity; poor communication cultivates confusion and division. From marriages to families, to lunch tables, boardroom’s, to the Statehouse, to the Whitehouse…the quality of communication will ultimately make us or break us. Consider this powerful law:
The Law of Communication
As sentient human beings, whenever we enter the presence of another communication automatically begins. Our intentions via our hearts, minds, consciousness, disposition, behaviors, and ultimately words and actions constantly send a powerful message. This happens all the time whether we realize it or not!
· The critical precursor to effective communication is to first observe and listen with the greatest intensity. If you first understand where another or others are really coming from, you have the foundation for strategic communication. Your information will be derived from much more than words.
· When your words are not aligned with your intentions you will always send a mixed, confusing message. And it is possible to do this and be unaware of it because of confusion regarding your own intentions. This is the reason that knowing yourself, and exercising integrity, and being straight forward with your words are critical factors in what you are conveying to another person or people.
· Also, because we tend to talk so much, let me mention the level of authority of our words. Just as important as what you say is how you say it. This is because between the inflections and vowels and syllables of your words your thoughts and emotions are constantly screaming what is going on inside of you while you are speaking. Plus, this may have nothing to do with the person with whom you are speaking!
Given the gravity of this law, it would behoove us to study communication, ourselves, and the others with whom we are endeavoring to connect to, as well as the reason for the connection.
