The Laws of Life: The Law of Community

Where can you go so that you feel safe among people? On your most dark and difficult day who will notice, engage with you, and are willing and able support you? Where do you find strength in your values, ambitions, and aspirations? Where does your life, contribution, input, and abilities matter? Who are you engaging to help make our world a better place? Who are you working with to leverage, execute, and amplify your most important goals? When was the last time you helped someone through their crisis? Welcome to the Law of Community!!!

The Law of Community

Your community is much more than the neighborhood in which you live. It is possible to live in a house with people (including family), join clubs and other organizations, socialize in proximity with many people, and have no community at all. Your community is where you share, care, and partner in getting things done. Community is the antidote for isolation!

·      A community will usually marshal around shared interests, concerns, goals, or all three. Because you can and should be a part of multiple communities, they can be of various sizes and levels. Your smallest community should make up your inner circle and become your safety net for the challenges of your life. Where do you find yourself: standing alone or functioning in a community?

·      The element holding communities together is relationships (connections). The stronger the relationships, the more powerful the community. There is a difference between socializing in groups and standing together regarding the things that matter most in life. When I speak of transformation of culture at the grass roots level, I am speaking of the amalgamation of individuals who have formed multiple communities around the world.

·      To find or form viable communities, you must first know what you stand for and where your true north (morals, values, intention, mission) is. Through listening and sharing with others you will connect with others who have the same goals yet are still unique. When someone tries to dictate to everyone else to make them believe or act the same way, the community is lost. When different people rally around the things that matter the most in life…a powerful community is birthed!

Friends, our only shot at making this world a better place is through the communities that we form around truth, wholesomeness, and noble intent. Pause to look at where you stand and make any appropriate adjustments.

Great Success!

Roger
