The Laws of Life: The Law of Cooperation

With the strife between races, political parties, couples, families, teammates in the workplace, students, communities, churches, religions, and more…there is obviously gross ignorance of this powerful law!!! The Law of cooperation is a master tool in the leader’s playbook, a major key to peacemakers, and all who would dare care to cultivate unity in this divided and torn world. Consider this Law:

The Law of Cooperation

Cooperation will not be achieved through coercion, manipulation, threatening, domination, or power; It will be fostered through inspiration, modeling, sincerity, and connection.

·      The first step in use of The Law of Cooperation is to understand, confirm, and pursue the interest of the party with whom you are wanting to establish cooperation with. A clue is to place yourself in the other persons shoes without judgment or bias. For example, how would you feel, what would you want, and what would you do?

·      Next, get the other party to open up and communicate freely and honestly about where they are with a listening ear, obvious interest, and a compassionate heart. Because of human nature, the defenses cannot stay up…they must come down, which is a major barrier to cooperation.

·      Next you want to become their advocate without compromising your principles and values. It’s never completely either or, there is always a way to help. When you do this, you demonstrate your humanity and sincerity, triggering the law of reciprocity which is powerful in and of itself.

·      Finally, you are ready to have the discussion to create a map of the possibility of both of you winning. (This gives you the opportunity to share your story) This is the pivotal point for the law of cooperation. [Mutual Pursuit of a Win-Win] No one will ever get everything they want anywhere in life! But you can establish agreement on major issues and agree to avoid destroying each other’s causes.

The only challenge to the Law of Cooperation is when you are dealing with someone with nefarious intent; but remember that even intentions are not impervious to influence. Study, and put this powerful law in to practice. What do you think? What would you add? Please respond at www.rogerckellygroup.com/blog.

Have a great week!

Roger
