The Laws of Life: The Law of Expectation
One of the greatest influences in your life is the set of expectations that you are currently carrying. If you are living in honor of Murphy’s Law (If something can go wrong, it will) it will shatter your life. If you are expecting failure, you will certainly obtain it. If you are expecting success, you will have it. If you think your child is a loser because they are different from you and you pontificate such to them throughout their developmental and adult years, don’t be surprised when they lose at multiple levels. If you have a dream and you come to a place of expectation of its fulfillment…it will happen. Welcome to the Law of Expectations:
The Law of Expectations
The Law of Expectations is brought into play when you are inwardly persuaded that something is about to happen. When this is the case there is an alignment of 100% of your being: heart, mind, soul, body (nervous system), perspective, and perception that this occurrence is imminent. Actually, this brings you into an active posture to participate and facilitate the unfolding of your expectation (whether conscious or unconscious). The Law of Expectation is the trigger for the externalization of the things embedded within you in the near and distant future.
· A dilemma occurs when you give mental assent to a belief but it is a galaxy away from what you are expecting. You can say you are believing that you will succeed but are simultaneously expecting to fail…failure will win out. This brings us to a critical question: What are you expecting in your life? Concerning your finances? Concerning your dreams? What are you afraid of? Are there things you definitely do not want to happen, yet through fear it is a deep expectation?
· The key is to become intentional about selecting, shaping, and reinforcing your expectations. You will need to transform negative expectations and accentuate the positive ones. Here are some helpful questions in identifying whether your expectations are an assets or liabilities:
-What are you thinking about most of the time?
-When you look into the future what do you see in your mind?
-Are you perceiving helpful opportunities or dreaded occurrences in your daily life situations?
· A helpful step is to pursue clarity of what your intentions really are. When you are clear, you can then reinforce your intentions through journaling and sharing with your inner circle which will bring about positive reinforcement. In so doing you are actively using the Law of Expectations!
Your future will depend upon intentional use of the Law of Expectations. We all use the law…we just don’t realize it.
