The Laws of Life: The Law of Observation
Several months ago, I was sitting at a red light waiting on my turn to go. In the corner of my eye in the distance I could see a car barreling down the road at a high rate of speed. I always survey everything when I’m driving…north, south, east, west, up, and down if applicable. The light turned green, but instinctively I didn’t go. About 10 seconds later, the driver I had seen in my peripheral view came through the light at 70 to 80 mph without braking and with no intention of stopping. Had I proceeded when the light turned green, you would probably not be reading this article today. Welcome to the Law of Observation…
The Law of Observation
The Law of Observation emphasizes that you should expend major effort in paying unwavering attention to what’s happening within you, around you, among others you encounter, and what’s unfolding ahead of you in real time. As you can see from my personal encounter above…The Law of Observation can save your life!!!
· In our pressured, harried, and rushed lifestyle, we often speak without thinking, make decisions on a whim, and act without planning. When we practice the Law of Observation, it forces us to slow down where we need to, and it becomes the basis for how we navigate in life. Hasty decisions and false assumptions often lead to disaster.
· We should exercise diligence observing our own thoughts, feelings, disposition, and mindset; We should observe the events and situations on the landscape of our lives; We should observe the people we are connected to: family, friends, business associates, co-workers, enemies, and the people we encounter in life; we should observe with anticipation the things that will likely occur in our lives; as this prepares us to respond and live in a strategic way.
· The Law of Observation trains us how to think, what to say, what to do, how to do it, and so much more. It also teaches us patience and helps us to see and perceive more clearly through the window of life. The Law of Observation is furthermore a precursor to authentic wisdom which we will discuss in the near future.
