The League for People with Disabilities is committed to offering individuals the opportunity to gain independence, increase self-sufficiency and to improve the quality of life.

Together, we are able.

Malcolm (left) and Jimmy (right) buckle up as they prepare to deliver meals for Moveable Feast.

For many of our participants, the bonds that they build with their friends and neighbors give them motivation to thrive. Day Habilitation participants like Jimmy rely on the consistency of the program where they are able to socialize with their companions and make a difference in the community.

Jimmy has been coming to The League for a little over two years. Staying home during the pandemic prevented Jimmy from having safe and constructive avenues for socializing with the people that bring him joy. Now that The League's Meaningful Day Programs accommodate nearly 100 participants with in-person services, Jimmy can spend time with his friends and engage with his community five days a week.

Together, Jimmy and his Day Habilitation leaders and friends deliver meals to the homebound residents of Baltimore, harvest sustainable crops, visit local cultural institutions, and cultivate meaningful relationships with members and animals of the community. Jimmy's progress is notable as he develops new skills, adapts appropriate behaviors, and has fun while helping the vulnerable populations of Maryland.

The Year-End Campaign for The League Fund kicks off next Friday, September 30th. Your gift to The League Fund, during any time of the year, allows us to continue important services on campus and in our community.  Donations bridge the gap between program service fees and government funding and the cost of services provided to fulfill our participants' needs. The League Fund supports our ability to offer individuals the opportunity to gain independence, increase self-sufficiency, and improve quality of life. Your gift enables us to not just offer services to individuals with disabilities, like Jimmy, but also offer critical services to support growth, connections, and sense of purpose in the streets, homes, organizations, and businesses of Baltimore. Together, we are able.

Would you consider supporting participants, like Jimmy, with a gift during the Year-End Campaign? A gift of $100 can help fuel The League vans that transport Jimmy and life-sustaining assembled meals to Baltimore’s homebound residents. Extend Jimmy’s impact on Baltimore with a gift today!
