The League for People with Disabilities is committed to offering individuals the opportunity to gain independence, to increase self-sufficiency, and to improve the quality of life.
Our League Story, The Holiday Drive Volunteers
And finally, we need to thank the generous sponsors of our Holiday Drive: Amazon BWI5, The Hettleman Golboro Endowment Fund, and APGFCU! Together, we are able to make the holidays cheery and bright for individuals with disabilities!
Winter Program Highlights
Recurring giving is one of the simplest ways to stay engaged with The League. If you join the GEM (Give Every Month) Club, not only will you be continuously supporting social interaction, skill-building, and advocacy efforts for individuals with disabilities, but you will also receive exclusive League news updates and opportunities for interaction with the adults and youth that we support. For $5 a month, you can help cover the cost of paper products for parties where individuals with disabilities can celebrate holidays and milestones together in a safe and constructive environment.

Our Wellness Fair Kick-Off Event is January 13th!
The Active Together Challenge Kick-Off Wellness Fair is coming to The League on Saturday, January 13th! Don't miss your chance to register as a Challenger and achieve your fitness goals in the new year while simultaneously benefitting participants at The League! We have partnered with several local wellness partners for a well-rounded, healthy experience!
On November 15th, students from the PaL Partnership and League Board Member/The Park School of Baltimore Alumni Ethan Nochumowitz spent some quality time with adults in our Medical Day Program. They toured our campus, played games of strategy, and made beautiful art while getting to know some incredible individuals in our programs. One month later, the PaL Partnership students were helping wrap gifts and filling out cards for our Holiday Drive!
| We are extremely grateful for our academic partnerships and networks of connections with young volunteers! If your school, company, or organization is interested in making a difference with The League, please contact Kait Wieler, Volunteer Coordinator, at kwieler@leagueforpeople.org. | |
The League is an Employer of Choice!
On Wednesday, 12/6, The League's Employee Culture Committee hosted a Winter Warm Up celebration filled with festive music, cookies, hot chocolate, and a selection of a holiday giveaway.
Two days later, The League was awarded as a Baltimore Sun Media Top Workplace for 2023 based on a voluntary organization-wide survey. This award goes to local businesses whose staff rate them high on questions related to their place of employment. While there is always room for improvement, our leadership is pleased to know that our employees feel valued, fulfilled, and invested in. The diverse backgrounds, passions, and expertise of our staff make our important work possible.

Last Wednesday, League Board Members spent the afternoon distributing lunches and holiday sweets to staff members and participants for the Annual Board-Sponsored Holiday Luncheon! Thank you to our outstanding leadership for facilitating such a wonderful event!

A Concluding Note from Our President & CEO
All is festive, merry, and bright at The League! I want to thank each of our corporate and individual volunteers for making our annual Holiday Drive a seasonal success! For many of the participants that we serve, financial struggles and familial distance can make the holidays difficult. Toys for the children in our Youth Autism Services Program and care packages for the adults in our Medical and Meaningful Day Programs go a long way towards spreading joy, but the real miracle is in the time that volunteers spend with the men, women, and children with disabilities in our programs. Every smile, connection, and conversation helps them feel valued and supported by a vast network in the Greater Baltimore Community.
We would not be able to provide meaningful care and improve the quality of life for more than 2,000 individuals and their families every year without you. Our incredible volunteer leadership, staff, and supporters make celebrations, talent shows, and job fulfillment possible for individuals of all abilities!
I cannot wait to see what we accomplish together in 2024! The fun of healthy and competitive fundraising will officially kick off on Saturday, January 13 for The Active Together Challenge, which is also the same date of our next CLUB1111. (It isn't too late to sign up for either opportunity!) And mark your calendars for Tastes, Toasts, & Triumphs on Saturday, April 13th! Together, we are able to magnify our positive impact on youth and adults with disabilities.
