Congratulations to Robert Waalkes for receiving the Volunteer Award at the Commission on Disabilities 2024 Awards Ceremony on November 19th! He was recognized as someone who advances opportunity and independence for people with disabilities.
"Robert Waalkes acts with kindness and the spirit of giving while selflessly volunteering at several facilities that provide services to people with disabilities."
The League is thrilled that Robert's fellow Community Development Services friends were able to cheer him on and celebrate his hard work in the community.

Robbie is a young man dedicated to the health and welfare of his community. As a participant in The League's newest program, Community Development Services (CDS), Robbie looks forward to making a difference with his peers and neighbors every day through civic engagement.
With an ultimate goal of employment, Robbie takes his responsibilities as a volunteer very seriously. His schedule is filled with opportunities that improve his social skills, help him practice self-advocacy, empower him to build connections, and support him in his journey of independence. The organizations that Robbie works with give him a sense of purpose and the arranged outings provide meaningful recreational experiences via orchestral performances, culinary banquets, and theatrical productions.
Through The League's CDS Program, Robbie has become more comfortable sharing his authentic self with others and becoming an autonomous member of society. His weekdays are spent volunteering and making Baltimore a better place, one retired horse farm at a time.

A Concluding Note from Our President & CEO
Dear Friends of The League,
It truly is the most wonderful time of the year, with the kids in our Youth Autism Services jingle belling, and everyone telling that they love The League, we are filled with gratitude, purpose, and cheer!
Over the past two weeks , our corporate volunteer partners spent quality time with participants in the Adult Medical Day Program doing fun, festive activities. Thank you to everyone who donated toys and care package items for the annual Holiday Drive, and to the folks who volunteered to wrap them!
Last Saturday, we hosted the final CLUB1111 of 2024! I cannot think of a better way to celebrate the conclusion of a memorable year - except for maybe with a toast of sparkling cider at Winter Camp's New Year's Eve Party at the end of this month!
Speaking of toasts, you do not want to miss Tastes, Toasts, & Triumphs, The League's annual fundraising gala, on March 22, 2025! I hope that you will join us for an evening of impact and delicious cuisine with fellow supporters!
Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to our generous League Fund donors! Your contributions are helping the individuals that we serve achieve their professional goals and fill their recreational needs. Together, we are able to work and play hard!
I hope that you enjoy the remainder of your holiday season and stay connected with us in 2025!
