The League for People with Disabilities is committed to offering individuals the opportunity to gain independence, to increase self-sufficiency, and to improve the quality of life.
Love is in the Air at The League!

One of the serendipitous aspects of The League are the relationships that naturally blossom between individuals with similar interests and goals. Whether it's on stage in a theatrical production of Grease, over breakfast in the Dining Hall at Camp Greentop, in the Multi Purpose Room at The League, or on the dance floors of CLUB1111, Cupid's arrow creates some of the sweetest matches for adults in our thirteen programs and services, participants and employees alike.
|
For many individuals with disabilities, finding romance can be a challenge. Without strong methods of communication, expendable income, or reliable sources of transportation, going on conventional dates is not always an option.
During this season of affection, and throughout the year, The League is happy to help friendships organically develop into love connections. Because they spend most of their days together, our participants form genuine bonds that bring them joy and help them grow. The League's programming extends opportunities for closeness with its dynamic facility and daily calendar of engaging activities. Couples can make a difference in the community, collaborate on creative projects, work out in the Wellness Center, or steal some quiet moments together in the onsite garden space.

We love to shine a spotlight on our couples because they showcase the power of love at The League. When you have similar abilities, interests, and goals (and happen to think that the person is cute), be brave enough to tell them how important they are to you! Having a partner to share this life with can inspire you to be the best version of yourself.
If you would like to support the couples in our programs on a consistent basis, please consider joining our G.E.M. (Give Every Month) Club! For as little as $5 a month, you can provide the paper products for parties and celebrations like the Adult Medical Day Prom.

Calling All 1960-70's Camp Greentop Alumni!
|
Established in 1937, Camp Greentop has changed the lives of thousands of individuals. For youth and adults with disabilities, as well as the staff members from all over the world, the grounds in the Catoctin Mountains are a home away from home for so many.
Former Camp Greentop staff member and director Mike Naugle is publishing a collection of stories from Camp Greentop campers and staff members. If you are someone who was active with Camp Greentop in the 1960's and 1970's and want to share your experiences, please contact Mike by phone 443-610-3684 or by email mikenaugle@comcast.net. A Concluding Note from Our President & CEO
Dear Friends of The League,
|
During this troubling time where diversity, equity, and inclusion are being questioned, The League remains a resource and ally for individuals of all ages, abilities, races, genders, sexes, orientations, and affiliations in Maryland. It is so important that we stand united to combat the disenfranchisement of historically marginalized people, and loudly champion equality. Our collective advocacy is critical to ensure that our participants, staff members, partners, and neighbors have access to opportunities for independence, self-sufficiency, and success.
As 2025 unfolds, the participants in The League's thirteen programs are proving that together, we are able to work and play hard. The adults in our Meaningful Day Program have been building new relationships with community sites and strengthening their vocational skills through volunteer work. Adventurers in the Travel Camp Program got to have some fun exploring San Diego, and more than 400 guests joined us at CLUB1111 last Saturday night to celebrate the "CLUB of LOVE."
If you would like to experience what CLUB1111 offers and want to help us make a difference in the lives of thousands of individuals every year, please don't delay in purchasing your ticket to Tastes, Toasts, & Triumphs, The League's annual fundraising gala, on March 22, 2025! The evening will consist of cocktails (and mocktails!), dinner, an impactful program, dessert, an online auction, and a dance party with CLUB's very own DJ Rosie!
Please stay warm and connected with us as we continue to achieve our personal and professional goals!
