The CAST crew has started doing habitat surveying in the Northwest Miramichi. This involves mapping habitat (
e.g.,
pools, riffles, runs, etc.) and substrate (e.g.,
sand, cobble, boulder). Later in August crews will return to selected sites for more detailed habitat work (
e.g.,
Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, pH, and Velocity). This will give researchers a better understanding of the kinds of habitat salmon seek throughout the summer months.
