Conservation Update
by MSA Biologist Kelsey McGee
Winter has most definitely come to the Miramichi Salmon Conservation Center! Even though we are up to our ears in snow there is still many exciting things happening at the hatchery! The trout fry have hatched, been moved from their incubation trays, and have stated feeding; they are fed every hour throughout the day and require lots of care! Our salmon eggs are still incubating and won’t hatch until spring. The 2019 field programs are being planned for the spring and we are very excited for the season ahead! Our main programs are being continued along with some welcomed new additions such as the Striped Bass Egg and Larvae study (to name one). Descriptions of all of our programs can be found on the MSA website, as well as annual technical reports.
