Alum Reunion, 2024 Mosaic Symposium and 171st Opening Convocation
This years Alum Reunion coincided with our week long Mosaic Symposium kicking off the 171st academic year at LPTS! We had a fantastic time reconnecting, reflecting, and celebrating with folks both new and familiar to the seminary. From meaningful gatherings over delicious meals provided by the newly opened Lou Sem Hope Cafe, to creative activities and insightful scholarly presentations, the week’s events offered something for everyone.
We were grateful to have Alum’s present on campus and online for our Alum Association Meeting, Opening Convocation of our 171st Academic Year.

This momentous event marks a new chapter in the rich 171-year history of our beloved institution, as we mark the occasion of a leader dedicated to advancing our mission of educating individuals to proclaim the Gospel, care for all, and work for justice in communities everywhere.
The inauguration ceremony was a celebration of our community’s shared commitment to excellence in theological education and the impactful work we do together. It provided a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our past achievements, celebrate our present strengths, and envision our future under Dr. Pomerville's inspiring leadership.

This annual consultation will highlight the historic and ongoing role of the Black Church as a “place” of both spiritual faith and social action. While serving as a cornerstone of Black religious culture, the Black Church is both a place of spiritual transformation and a source of community impact providing a space for worship, community support and mobilization for social justice causes. Rooted in liberation theology, the Black Church connects biblical teachings to the struggle against oppression and mobilizes efforts for justice and equality. The Black Church has been a voice for social change, inspiring and engaging social action as an expression of Christian faith and witness.
