Florida Power & Light is continuing power pole change out work at the Carlton Reserve via the South Powerline Trail. The South Powerline Trail will be closed to all users through approximately mid-February.

Now through winter 2024: The Legacy Trail - Intermittent Trail Closures

Florida Department of Transportation construction of the pedestrian overpasses at Clark Road and Bee Ridge Road are moving forward in the first stage of construction. Florida Power & Light is currently working on the powerline transitions from overhead to underground at both Bee Ridge Road and Clark Road overpasses. There will be intermittent trail closures in the area with no detour available.

February: The Legacy Trail

Contractors are continuing to conduct fence maintenance and relocation on The Legacy Trail south of Laurel Road.

Now-April 10: The Legacy Trail

Surrey rides are running through April 10, every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Surrey rides begin at Laurel Park, they travel south for about 20 minutes and then return. If you would like to schedule a ride, please call 941-861-PARK (7275) to register.

Now – April 18: The Legacy Trail

Pedicab rides began Feb. 1, starting at Osprey Junction Trailhead and traveling along the Legacy Trail. This program occurs on Thursday mornings with rides running at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. If you would like to schedule a ride, please call 941-861-PARK (7275) to register.

The kick-off of Pedicab season coincides with the opening of the Osprey Junction Trailhead Visitor Center, now open on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Take a break from the trail, come learn more about our parks and ask our volunteers your trail questions!

Feb. 17: Venetian Waterway Park East and West and The Legacy Trail

A large running event will be using both sides of the Venetian Waterway Park and The Legacy Trail (south of Roberts Bay only) for their event. Please use caution with runners on the trail.

Ongoing: The Legacy Trail and Bay Street Intersection

The Bay Street signal lights at the Legacy Trail are currently working, however the signal button has had intermittent issues. Please use caution and continue to fully press the signal button until it can be repaired.
