Pennsylvania Physicians Advocate in Washington at AMA National Advocacy Conference

Pennsylvania physicians joined colleagues from across the country in Washington, DC, for the American Medical Association’s (AMA) National Advocacy Conference (NAC), where they met with members of Congress and congressional staff to discuss federal policies impacting patient care and physician practice.


During Capitol Hill meetings, the Pennsylvania delegation focused on several key priorities, including stabilizing Medicare physician payments to protect access for seniors, reducing administrative burdens associated with prior authorization, and protecting patient access to coverage through Medicaid.

Pennsylvania Special Elections Update

Pennsylvania held special elections on February 24, 2026, to fill vacancies in the state House of Representatives.

In the 22nd Legislative District (Lehigh County), Democrat Ana Tiburcio was elected. In the 42nd Legislative District (Allegheny County), Democrat Jennifer Mazzocco was elected. Both will serve the remainder of the current legislative term through November 2026.


The results maintain the current partisan balance in the Pennsylvania House, where Democrats hold a narrow majority, while Republicans retain control of the Senate.

Save the Date for Our 2026 PAMED Legislative Advocacy Day

PAMED will host a Pennsylvania State Capitol Advocacy Day on Tuesday, Sept. 29. This will be an opportunity for physicians, residents, and medical students to engage directly with state lawmakers on issues impacting the practice of medicine and patient care.

The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) strongly opposes the recent rescinding of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Endangerment Finding; an action that removes a critical federal safeguard designed to protect the public from pollution and threatens public health.

PAMED Submits AI Adoption Comments to HHS

Last week, PAMED submitted comments to the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in response to the agency’s Request for Information (RFI) seeking public input on how HHS can accelerate the adoption and use of artificial intelligence (AI) as part of clinical care in America. The RFI seeks input as to how HHS can “use its regulatory, reimbursement, and research and development levers across all of HHS to enable AI adoption to propel the American health care system forward.

The Foundation is Reaccredited through PANO!

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is a recipient of the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations’ Seal of Excellence for successfully completing their rigorous Standards for Excellence® accreditation program. The Foundation voluntarily opened itself up to analysis by a “jury of its peers,” and met all the requirements of the Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector. This is The Foundation’s fifth time earning a PANO accreditation.

📢 Member Feedback on Potential PAMED Policy

At the 2025 PAMED House of Delegates, several resolutions were referred back to the PAMED Board of Trustees for decision or study. PAMED members can provide feedback, which will be considered official testimony, on each item. This Information will be shared directly with the Board members when they address this topic. Deadline for feedback is Tuesday, March 5.
