NEW TO THE LIBRARY OF THINGS

The Library of Things just got a little sweeter—cake pans are now available to borrow at the Downtown Library! Perfect for birthdays, special occasions or just a fun baking project, these character-shaped and standard pans make it easy to whip up something memorable without needing to buy new equipment. Simply check the catalog to see which pans are available, then borrow them with your library card.

The Cake Pans are the latest addition to our ever-growing Library of Things collection, which also includes California State Parks and San Mateo County Parks passes, Kids’ Discovery Backpacks, Home Energy & Water Saving Toolkits, iPads for kids, WiFi hotspots and more.

New Blog Post! Redwood City’s Hopeful Horizons Ordinance

Addressing homelessness is not easy. It requires innovative approaches, cross-sector collaboration and sustained investment in resources that meet the community's direct needs.

On September 8, 2025, Redwood City adopted the Hopeful Horizons Ordinance, a compassionate, outreach-centered policy designed to help encampment residents move toward stable housing through shelter placement, case management and wraparound services. The ordinance builds on San Mateo County’s proven approach to addressing encampments on public property.
