Digging Deeper
I’ve been communicating in these monthly newsletters that your board of directors is working hard on the efforts of the Light Green Machine Institute. We want to take the next few months to succinctly convey our direction and listen to your feedback. So we urge you to not just read, but hit “reply” and let us know if we are meeting your expectations and, more importantly, your future needs as you see them.
Our original mission statement read as follows:
The Light Green Machine Institute is a 501c3 corporation dedicated to reducing the installed weight of paper machines and other unit operations in a pulp and/or paper mill. The Institute produces thought provoking newsletters, design practices and other information dedicated to the objective of reducing the installed weight in pulp and paper mills, with the ultimate objective of reducing both the installed and operating costs."
Upon further reflection, we think restating the mission as follows helps you to understand the purpose of the Light Green Machine Institute and its personal value to you:
The Light Green Machine Institute is dedicated to reducing the installed weight of paper machines and other facility or unit operations in a pulp and/or paper mill with the ultimate objective of:
Reducing installed costs,
Increasing uptime,
Improving ease of operation, and
Minimizing maintenance costs.
Then
Our vision is that the future pulp and/or paper facility will reduce the overall impact on the environment, all the way from sourcing the components to daily operation and on to final disposition at end-of-life.
The Light Green Machine Institute will accomplish these matters through these outcomes:
Design approach protocols and
Design practices.
It is planned that these outcomes will be accomplished by project teams and shared with our members through workshops and other means.
Now, dear reader, please reply. A verbose response is welcome, but short of that, a simple yes or no answer to the following statement would be greatly appreciated:
I agree with the mission/vision of the Light Green Machine Institute as outlined in this newsletter.
Your comment is important for launching the mission and vision statements and thus endorsing our path forward.
Thank you very much for your participation.
Of special note...
In a few months, we will be moving this column to the Light Green Machine Institute website. There is not much there right now, but you might as well get signed up and start thinking about moving over there. It is at www.lightgreenmachine.institute.
