It's been an eventful winter at the sanctuary... full of snowy landscapes, frozen ponds, star-filled skies, and several wonderful new animals who have joined our family.
Hello Dolly... Well, Hello Dolly!
We're delighted to welcome Dolly, a young and mischievous Treeing Walker Coonhound. She had been left outside and largely neglected by her previous owner. A concerned person stepped in and offered to adopt her, only to find that Dolly didn't get along well with her other dog. We agreed to take her and our German Shepherd Zaffa could not be happier with the arrival of his new friend, despite her penchant for stealing toys and right out of his mouth.
Like most hounds, this gal loves to run and can really put on some speed chasing squirrels or escaping with one of Zaffa's toys. We marvel at how she appears to swoop and sail across the yard like some floppy-eared ballistic missile. Using sophisticated advanced technology, we measured whether any of her paws actually make contact with the ground during her high-speed flights. They don't. We concluded that gravity simply doesn't work on Dolly.
Home For The Holidays
It was a chilly December day when three shelter cats found a new home at the sanctuary. We are delighted to introduce Destiny, Keegan, and Elliot!
Destiny is an elegant, friendly calico who found herself at the shelter after she and her four kitty housemates were removed by animal control from a very bad living situation. She watched all four of her friends get adopted from the shelter one by one... while she waited in vain. It was time for this lovely lady to find her family! Welcome home Destiny!
Keegan is a sweet fellow with gorgeous green eyes and a perfectly pink nose. He had a run of bad luck, landing at the shelter a couple years ago. Fortunately, he was adopted by an older gentleman, but sadly found himself back at the shelter a short time later when his new owner passed away. There he languished for over a year, continually overlooked by potential adopters. We figured it was time for Keegan's luck to change... and brought him home!
Elliot is a sweet, talkative chap always ready with a cheerful greeting. We don't know much about his history, other than that he's approximately 9 years old and was stuck at the shelter for far too long. Now he brightens every day with his cuddles and friendly chatter. Welcome home Elliot!

Preparing for Parrots
We are super excited to share our progress on the construction of an aviary in preparation for the arrival of our first rescue parrots!! The sanctuary is planning to take in a Blue Gold Macaw and two Umbrella Cockatoos in need of a home. The macaw is approximately 25 years old and has anger management issues from being ignored and cooped up in a small cage for too long. He needs lots of love and space to fly! The cockatoos are a bonded pair and need a home where they can remain best buds and sing at full decibel.
The aviary includes both indoor and outdoor space. The indoor portion is 20 feet long by 14 feet wide. The outdoor space is extends another 18 feet from the building. We're working to complete the indoor portion in the next few weeks and plan to finish the outdoor fencing this summer.

We would welcome your support as we prepare to bring these beauties home! Please click the below link to donate to our GoFundMe campaign. THANK YOU!!
