From Your Pastor

Hello Katie,

"It's too late, I've missed my chance, it's over..."

Have you ever thought this?

Whether it was a job opportunity, a relationship, even a New Year's resolution?

Maybe it's a relationship that's gone sour, a bad habit you seem to be stuck in, a bad situation you just can't seem to get out of.

And you wonder, what if I could just start over? Is it ever too late to begin again?

If you've wondered this - or worry it's already too late - the good news is that it's not.

Our God is about second chances, fresh starts, new beginnings!

Consider this prayer:

Holy God, this is one of the questions I ask myself—is it too late? Have I missed the window? Is it really possible for me to unlearn and relearn new habits? When I begin to doubt, I remember that you called Sarah and Abraham to be parents and start a new generation at an old age. Surely, there is new life for me as well. Give me the courage to laugh with joy when opportunities for new beginnings walk my way. Amen.

Prayer and Care Team

Greetings! The Prayer & Care Team needs your help! Do you have a skill that can bless others in our congregation? We all have a unique skill or a superpower that helps others. For example:

  •  Are you a handyman who enjoys working your hands?
  •  Do you have good organizational skills?
  • Do you have experience caring for an elderly parent and can you share your lessons learned with others who are just beginning this process?
  • Do you enjoy baking?
  • Do you enjoy creating crafts, cards, knitting or other crafty skills?
  • Can you make a call to a member of our congregation who is shut-in and cheer them up?

These are a few of the many examples that the Prayer & Care Team needs to help us care for, encourage, and bless members of our congregation and community.

What are your unique skills?

Please email pastor@washparkumc.org to learn more.

Thank you for helping us bless others!
