Vol. 67 No. 15 ✥ April 15, 2026

April 19, 2026 ❖ The Third Sunday of Easter

Lessons: Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19; I Peter 1:17-23

Sermon: "Sustained by Love"

First Peter reminds the early church, and us, that wherever we may find ourselves, we are on a sojourn – we are “resident aliens” in our culture and our world. We today may not have the oppression and persecution of the first century, but we do have the same demand on our lives: that we choose to live in reverence to God as we sojourn on this earth and that we love one another as we have been loved first. Only because of Christ’s redeeming work can we live as God’s beloved children, sharing that love deeply with one another.

Eastertide Sermon Series – Sustained by Resurrection: This season we journey through 1 Peter together to explore what it means to live out our faith in the midst of suffering. Through reading these writings to fledgling churches, we are given a light by which we can survive whatever comes our way, knowing we are sustained by our God.

Anthems:

"If You Will Trust in God to Guide You" - Neumark

"A New Commandment" - Aston

Worship is live on our homepage and YouTube channel at 11:00 a.m.,

but we love having you with us in the sanctuary!

SNEAK PEEK THIS WEEK!!

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship has provided us beautiful handmade items from our CBF field personnel all over the world to sell in support of the Offering for Global Missions at our Missions Marketplace. Come to the Courtyard this Sunday, April 19, and see these beautiful items, and if you want to go ahead and purchase an item (or a few!), our Missions Committee will be present to sell them. All proceeds go directly to the Offering for Global Missions.

HELP OUR LAKESIDE KIDS RAISE MONEY FOR THE CBF OFFERING FOR GLOBAL MISSIONS! BRING YOUR POCKET CHANGE SUNDAYS IN APRIL!

CBF OFFERING FOR GLOBAL MISSIONS

“Embracing Neighbors, Nurturing Hope” Colossians 3:12-14

We invite you this year to give generously to the CBF Offering for Global Missions. All of your gifts for the offering will support the long-term presence of CBF field personnel serving in the United States and around the world. If you would like to pray for or learn about our field personnel, download the PDF Prayer Guide HERE. You can also view this online at CBF's Global Missions Website.

You have three ways to give to the Offering for Global Missions: You can give your pocket change to our Lakeside kids, who have CBF Offering-themed banks on Sundays in April. You can also write a check to Lakeside and designate “CBF OGM.” Or you can join us at our Missions Marketplace after worship on Sunday, April 26, where you can bid on auction items donated by our talented church members. All proceeds from the auction will be designated for the offering.

GATHER AROUND THE LONGEST TABLE

On Thursday, April 30, the Harrison Family YMCA is bringing The Longest Table to Rocky Mount! This nationwide movement brings neighbors from across the community together for a free potluck meal and wonderful fellowship. The event is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Landis Pavilion adjacent to the YMCA.

We are in need of Table Captains to provide food and paper goods for about 8 to 10 people, volunteers to assist with setup and cleanup, and folks to attend. Lakeside is one of the sponsors of this event, so we hope you will come out to meet our neighbors and support this exciting event. Contact the church office or Bria Lewis at the YMCA for more information.

We are in need of volunteers for this year's VBS!

Lead teachers, assistant teachers, craft and recreation volunteers,

as well as folks to help set up the week before, are needed.

We also need youth helpers to assist throughout the week.

Use the links to register below!

Plans are underway for our 35th year of

Gatekeepers Workcamp!

Registration forms for youth and adult volunteers

have been sent out by email,

or you may request one from the church office.

The final deadline for all registrations is May 28.
