June 7, 2026 ❖ Founders Day

Lessons: Genesis 12:1-9; Romans 4:13-25

Sermon: "Go Forth"

Lakeside, like all congregations, was called out by God years ago and is still being called by God even today. Like Abraham, we are called to go forth, and no matter our age or stage, we answer the call so that others might be blessed through our obedience.

This Sunday is Lakeside’s Annual Founders Day Sunday. Each year, Lakeside celebrates its founding the first Sunday in June, and this year, we commemorate 71 years of ministry in the Rocky Mount community as part of our worship. We give thanks to God for the Lakeside family of faith and its witness to God’s Kingdom, and we look forward to our next 71 years together!

Anthems:

"God of Grace and God of Glory" - Langston

"Fly Away" - arr. Reid

Worship is live on our homepage and YouTube channel at 11:00 a.m.,

but we love having you with us in the sanctuary!

CALLED CHURCH CONFERENCE

SUNDAY, JUNE 7, AFTER WORSHIP

There will be a called church conference on Founders Day, Sunday, June 7, immediately following worship for the purpose of voting on two matters:

The Board of Finance, Endowment Committee, and Diaconate recommend for your approval the spending of $94,367 for the purpose of replacing the HVAC system in the Sanctuary and Organ Chamber by Piedmont Service Group. $90,000 of the cost would come from the Lakeside Endowment Fund and the remaining $4,367 would come from the Deferred Maintenance Fund.

The Music Committee, Personnel Committee, and Diaconate recommend for your approval the calling of Zack Ross as Lakeside's new Minister of Music. The Board of Finance and Diaconate have approved the compensation package for this position.

Below you will find links to the Music Committee's recommendation, along with a copy of the Minister of Music (Organist/Choirmaster) job description, and Zack Ross's resume.

YOUTH NEWS

We are having a wonderful time exploring the beautiful state of Arizona! Nine of our high school youth and three adults flew out early Sunday morning and are spending the week learning about the Indigenous Peoples around Phoenix and Flagstaff and experiencing outdoor worship at some of the most spectacular places on earth.

So far, we have visited the Yavapai-Apache Cultural Center and ancient ruins in the Verde Valley, enjoyed a jeep tour of the Red Rocks of Sedona, had prayers at Chapel of the Holy Cross, and cooled off with a fun afternoon at Slide Rock State Park. We will spend today hiking around the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

I am grateful to Andy Barker and Ginny Etheridge for chaperoning this trip. Thank you, Lakeside, for your generosity in making this opportunity possible! We will return on Saturday and schedule a fellowship lunch this fall to share our adventures with you.

AN IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE ROCKY MOUNT COMMUNITY:

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION WITH DAVE CLAWSON

FOR COACHES AND YOUTH LEADERS

One of the exciting opportunities of this year's Turnage Speaker Series is a small group discussion for coaches, athletic directors, and others who work with area youth organizations. On Sunday, August 23, at 2:30 p.m., Dave Clawson will lead a time of dialogue about the challenges of our current environment of high school and college athletics, including reflections on his own journey as college sports evolved into an industry.

The session will include a chance for participants to ask questions and engage in conversation. We hope you will encourage your friends who are involved in school, community, or nonprofit youth and athletic organizations to join us. Participation for this session is by registration only through the Event Registration page of our website by clicking the button below.

In addition to this session, Coach Clawson will share part of his faith journey with us in morning worship on August 23 and offer a public lecture at 5:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, where he will share further thoughts about leadership and character and provide a time of conversation. Make plans now to join us!
