Vol. 67 No. 14 ✥ April 8, 2026

April 12, 2026 ❖ The Second Sunday of Easter

Lessons: Psalm 16; I Peter 1:3-9

Sermon: "Sustained by Hope"

The people of God in Christ are given a new hope: Hope in what we have not yet seen, even during struggle and persecution. We are reminded that we are reborn through Christ, and though there is affliction, there is also hope in our suffering.

Eastertide Sermon Series: This season we journey through 1 Peter together to explore what it means to live out our faith in the midst of persecution or suffering. Through reading these writings to fledgling churches, we are given a light by which we can survive whatever comes our way.

Anthems:

"O Sons and Daughters" - trad. French Carol

"I Know that My Redeemer Liveth" - Handel, from Messiah

Worship is live on our homepage and YouTube channel at 11:00 a.m.,

but we love having you with us in the sanctuary!

RESURRECTION SUNDAY

Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed. Alleluia! Sunday was a lovely celebration of resurrection at Lakeside! Click below to see photos of our service and fellowship.

BELLAMY'S MILL

Our Topnotchers had a wonderful visit to Dee and Stewart Gibson's home, Bellamy's Mill on Fishing Creek in Whitakers! Many thanks to our hosts, who taught us so much about the history of the mill and the restoration process. We had a wonderful time of learning and fellowship together! HELP OUR LAKESIDE KIDS RAISE MONEY FOR THE CBF OFFERING FOR GLOBAL MISSIONS! BRING YOUR POCKET CHANGE SUNDAYS IN APRIL!

CBF OFFERING FOR GLOBAL MISSIONS

“Embracing Neighbors, Nurturing Hope” Colossians 3:12-14

We invite you this year to give generously to the CBF Offering for Global Missions. All of your gifts for the offering will support the long-term presence of CBF field personnel serving in the United States and around the world. If you would like to pray for or learn about our field personnel, download the PDF Prayer Guide HERE. You can also view this online at CBF's Global Missions Website.

You have three ways to give to the Offering for Global Missions: You can give your pocket change to our Lakeside kids, who have CBF Offering-themed banks on Sundays in April. You can also write a check to Lakeside and designate “CBF OGM.” Or you can join us at our Missions Marketplace after worship on Sunday, April 26, where you can bid on auction items donated by our talented church members. All proceeds from the auction will be designated for the offering.

YOUTH NEWS

Happy Easter! I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Spring Break! We will resume our regular schedule of activities this Sunday at 5:00 p.m. We have only a few Sunday nights of Youth Fellowship remaining before our break for summer. Mark your calendar for our end-of-year party for youth and children and their families on Sunday evening, May 3.

All youth families, be sure to make plans to be here for our car wash on Saturday, May 16, and then on Sunday, May 17, we will celebrate our youth and graduates in worship. All youth are needed to assist with the worship service.

MUSIC NOTES

Thank you to all who came out to support our music ministry in the Seven Last Words performance on Good Friday. Lakeside was very well-represented! A reminder that the Lakeside Ringers season has ended until the fall, and that the Chancel Choir will not rehearse tonight, April 8, to get a much needed break! The choir will meet at their usual time on Sunday morning to prepare for worship.

TOPNOTCHER NEWS

The Topnotcher trip to Dee & Stewart Gibson’s Bellamy’s Mill home was a wonderful time of fellowship, laughter, and connection. We are so grateful for everyone who attended and helped make the day so special. A heartfelt thank you goes to all who worked behind the scenes to organize this gathering, and especially to Dee and Stewart for their warm hospitality and for opening their beautiful home to us. It was truly a blessing to share this time together.

Our next Continue the Communion lunch will be on Sunday, May 3, at Rocky Mount Ace Buffet, 1457 Benvenue Road.

On Tuesday, June 9, we will travel to the NC Symphony outdoor concert on the Tarboro Commons. Be on the lookout for more details as the date approaches.

GATHER AROUND THE LONGEST TABLE

On Thursday, April 30, the Harrison Family YMCA is bringing The Longest Table to Rocky Mount! This nationwide movement brings neighbors from across the community together for a free potluck meal and wonderful fellowship. The event is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Landis Pavilion adjacent to the YMCA.

We are in need of Table Captains to provide food and paper goods for about 8 to 10 people, volunteers to assist with setup and cleanup, and folks to attend. Lakeside is one of the sponsors of this event, so we hope you will come out to meet our neighbors and support this exciting event. Contact the church office or Bria Lewis at the YMCA for more information.

ONLINE DIRECTORY COMING SOON!

We are beginning to set up our online church directory, Realm, and in the days to come will be opening up access to our church leadership in addition to our church staff.

Watch your emails and announcements for a launch date for the congregation as well. We look forward to sharing with you this new tool for connection and ministry!
