May 17, 2026 ❖ The Seventh Sunday of Easter

Youth and Graduate Sunday

Lessons: Ephesians 1:15-23, John 17:6-11

Sermon: "Alive, Aware, Active Faith"

Dr. Elizabeth Edwards preaching

Elizabeth Paszek and Riley Stussie speaking on behalf of the graduates.

Throughout this school year, the Lakeside Youth have been considering what it means to engage the world through our faith in Christ. Through our Bible studies, mission projects, discussions, games, and other activities, we have learned to look for the ways God is at work in the world and then asked how we--as Christ followers whose faith is alive, aware, and active--can participate in that holy work.

This Sunday, our year will culminate in Youth & Graduate Sunday, as our youth lead us in worship and we celebrate with our seniors. We hope you will join us to support these amazing young people and all they mean to our congregation and to be challenged to have a faith that is alive, aware, and active for the sake of the world God loves and calls us to serve.

Anthems:

"Glory Now to Thee be Given" - Bach

"Here I am, Lord" - Schutte

Worship is live on our homepage and YouTube channel at 11:00 a.m.,

but we love having you with us in the sanctuary!

It is such a simple concept--To deliver bags of weekend meals and snacks to school children whose families are food insecure. Yet it is such an important ministry to our community!

This school year alone, Lakeside's volunteers and donors have contributed over $16,000 and delivered 1,200 bags of food, as well as winter hats and gloves, school supplies, and other special treats to 35 students at Benvenue Elementary School. In addition, our Teacher Appreciation team has shown our support by delivering donuts to kick-off the school year, treat bags at Christmas, tissues and sanitizer during the winter cold and flu season, and cookies for Teacher Appreciation Week.

Thank you, Lakeside, for 15 years of faithful ministry through our Backpack Buddies program and for all the ways you share the love of Christ throughout our community and beyond!

We are in need of volunteers for this year's VBS!

Lead teachers, assistant teachers, craft and recreation volunteers,

as well as folks to help set up the week before, are needed.

We also need youth helpers to assist throughout the week.

YOUTH NEWS

We are looking forward to this weekend's finale to an amazing school year! On Saturday, we will hold a car wash in the church parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. All youth and adult volunteers should arrive no later than 8:45. This is our last fund raiser for this summer's Pilgrimage to Phoenix, AZ. Be sure to invite your family and friends to come out to support our efforts.

Then on Sunday, our youth will lead us in worship, and we will celebrate with our graduates. Youth, be sure to meet in the sanctuary promptly at 9:30 a.m. to rehearse for worship. Each of you will receive more information by text or email about your part in the worship service. I look forward to celebrating with you on Sunday!
