Ashleigh moved to southeast Wisconsin nearly 20 years ago and transitioned from the financial publishing field into nonprofit administration. She holds a bachelor’s in English from Ripon College and a master’s in writing from DePaul University.

Literacy is a passion of Ashleigh’s: "Literacy is the foundation to achieving your goals, no matter what your path in life. I’m honored to be part of a team working to support literacy learners across Wisconsin as they improve their lives, strengthen our communities and celebrate the beauty in diversity."

She served as Executive Director of the Kenosha Literacy Council and currently sits on its Board of Directors. In addition to working and raising three children, Ashleigh has built strong relationships with contacts in local and regional education, business and nonprofit organizations; she serves on several Kenosha Boards. She comes to Wisconsin Literacy from the Gateway Technical College Foundation, where her focus was foundation and alumni relations.

Presenters: Chris Stark and Gail Huycke from UW-Madison Division of Extension

Chris Stark is a Community and Economic Development Educator for UW-Madison, Division of Extension. At present, he is working with the Wisconsin Digital Equity and Inclusion Stakeholders Group, in an effort to get affordable broadband to all citizens of Wisconsin and to help deploy teachers to teach digital skills necessary to help residents to be able to utilize their connectivity.

Gail Huycke is a professor with the University of Wisconsin Madison Division of Extension. She works with communities to develop strong community planning and networking as they work to expand broadband. Her adoption work has included development and training for Connecting Aging Communities and Tech Changemakers.

Vaccination is a critical tool for containing the virus and minimizing the adverse impact of COVID-19. WHL recognizes that community-based organizations and trusted messengers are in the best position to promote acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination with those who have questions.

This funding supports COVID-19 vaccine outreach and education to help address barriers to and promote acceptance of vaccination, especially those communities that face challenges to accessing medical care and people who have historical mistrust of the medical community and vaccines. 

If you serve English Language Learners, you have no doubt heard about BurlingtonEnglish. Large and small literacy programs in Wisconsin use BurlingtonEnglish. The Waukesha office of Literacy Services of Wisconsin was recently featured in an article in the Wisconsin Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (WITESOL) newsletter.

Dr. Dwinita Mosby Tyler, a consultant accredited by the Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence and recipient of the Cornell University Diversity and Inclusion certification, is nationally recognized for her equity work with non-profit, community, government, and corporate organizations. In her work, Dr. Mosby Tyler specializes in the development and delivery of leadership, equity, diversity, cultural responsiveness and inclusiveness strategies and training programs.

Dr. Mosby Tyler has a vast, 32-year background in human resources, diversity & inclusion, training and operations management. She has received local and national awards for her service and leadership accomplishments from over a dozen other organizations. Dr. Mosby Tyler holds a doctorate in the field of Organizational Leadership, a Master of Arts degree in Management, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education
