All About the Annual Snow Geese Migration

By Mark Branle

If you’ve lived in Lancaster County for any length of time, then you’ve probably heard about a natural phenomenon that takes place nearby each year… the annual migration of hundreds of thousands of Snow Geese to Middle Creek.

Starting in late winter, you might see (and hear) these all-white fowl flying VERY high above you on their way to points north. They fly a lot higher than Canada Geese, and flocks can be well into the hundreds. On their way to the Arctic Circle, hundreds of thousands of them stop at Middle Creek before making their final push north.

So what makes this migration so special? I sat down with friend and fellow wildlife photographer Joey Endy to find out more. Joey is an award-winning wildlife photographer whose work is published in print nationally.

Breathing into the Week

Monday Morning Yoga at Earth to Lititz

By Rebecca Branle

During the normal business day, the floor of Earth to Lititz is layered with tables and racks holding our favorite eco-friendly apparel, but something special happens on Monday mornings...

We clear the floor - and our minds - so we can start the week on a healthy note. Starting at 8 am, Kath Stenman Okonak, a certified yoga instructor, leads an invigorating Vinyasa yoga practice. No two practices are the same, and all offer a chance to start our week with strength and intention. We breathe together and grow together and know that while we aren't all at the same place in our journey, we're all worthy of taking the time to honor ourselves as we are today.

Want to start your week with us? ALL are welcome! Reserve your spot using the link below. Please bring your yoga mat and some water to class.

Let's Hike Lititz

Join Us for Our First Urban Hike

By Rebecca Branle

The picture above might not look like your typical starting point for a hike, but we're pretty sure it's gonna be one of our new favorite "trailheads."

Thanks to tons of thoughtful feedback from all of you, we're so excited to announce our Earth to LItitz Urban Hike Series. Every second Thursday, we'll meet at our front door - 56 East Main Street, Lititz - and head off on an adventure. Our routes will change, but our mission won't. We'll take in the sights, enjoy each other's company, and leave the paths we cross cleaner than we found them. Rebecca will have biodegradable trash bags handy so we can pick up any garbage we see along the way.

Our first Urban Hike will be Thursday, April 10th, starting at 8 am. Be sure to wear comfy walking shoes and bring water! We'll plan to be walking for 45 minutes.

Lititz, Let's Ride!

Gearing up for Group Rides

By Josh Kreiser

I’ve wanted to start a shop ride for a few years, and it’s finally happening! We get asked about local rides all the time, and we can always point road riders toward the Lancaster Bike Club or other local road rides. On the other hand, there isn’t much for folks who prefer dirt or gravel to asphalt. Our goal is to start a chill, no-drop ride with a few different routes of varying difficulty.

If this sounds like your cup of tea and feel like helping out, respond to the questionnaire here. All the rides will be posted on the Bikeworks Instagram and anyone who responds to the form will be emailed. Thanks for your interest, I hope to get this rolling soon!
