County Proclaimed March 24, 2023, as Women in Agriculture Day
The Board’s proclamation recognizes the important role of women in the field of agriculture, particularly in providing a safe, healthy, affordable, and abundant food supply to the County, state, nation, and the world. In the United States, more than 1,200,000 females are engaged in agricultural production, making up more than a third of the nation’s agricultural producers. Additionally, women-operated farms sold approximately $148 billion in agricultural products in 2017, accounting for 38% of the total agriculture sales in the U.S. that year.
