The LoCastro Report
Fourth Edition
October 25, 2019
Greetings!

Our campaign wrapped up another week and a half full of activities around our community.

We started off the week with the opportunity to emcee and moderate a fantastic luncheon for The Above Board Chamber of Florida . Several Collier County businessmen and women shared their insights during a panel discussion titled, “The Many Lives of a Business.” I encourage you to check out their monthly meetings focused on different areas of professional development.

I am a proud member of the American Legion Marco Island Post 404 and attended our meeting on Tuesday. We heard from the new Marco Island Police Chief, Tracy Frazzano . Her resume speaks for itself, but her roll-up-your-sleeves attitude is what is truly impressive. She is currently on a “listening tour,” working with Island and County leaders to make the Marco Island Police Department the best it can be!

Later that night, I attended the Goodland Civic Association’s potluck dinner meeting. It was a hugely informative time for me to get to know the citizens of Goodland that much better. Goodland is definitely about people, and what a fantastic and friendly group of people they are! Regrettably, the community is still dealing with the effects of Hurricane Irma but we had a productive discussion on how we’re going to reverse that.

Last Wednesday was a day packed with great events! I started the day at a wonderful networking breakfast with more than 60 Collier County business leaders from Business Network International (BNI). What a high-energy way to start the day! Thank you Blanca Vasquez and Peter Falisi for the invitation and for giving me the opportunity to address the group. Definitely enjoyed our business discussion.

I also attended an appreciation luncheon for Golisano Children’s Hospital and talk about the good work that they do. What a proud moment hearing of all the miracles these teams perform every day in the lives of children, not just in our area, but nationwide! Thank you to my friend Anne Frazier and her team for the informative discussion and insight into the strides they are making in pediatric medicine.

My Hispanic Outreach Campaign Coordinator, Edna Merced, and I were able to end the day by attending the Hispanic Vote of SWFL Collier Community Leaders meeting. Thank you Chairman Carmen Salomé for leading a great bi-partisan discussion with both Russell Tuff , the Chair of the Collier County Republican Executive Committee, and Jeff Spencer , the Vice-Chair of the Collier County Democratic Executive Committee.

The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce had their 2019 “Get Involved Collier! Volunteer Expo” this week with more than 75 nonprofit organizations gathering to educate our community. There are so many ways to give back. I encourage you to check one out! I enjoyed the chance to talk and learn from Valerie’s House, Humane Society, YMCA, Wounded Warriors of Collier County, United Way, NCH, and so many more!

Tuesday started with the County Commissioners meeting. I was honored to join Barbara Melvin, Daniel Melvin, and Denise Murphy in accepting a proclamation recognizing our “Party With A Purpose” event that happened on October 24th supporting Wounded Warriors of Collier County!

As always, it’s extremely valuable to sit in these meetings and listen to the concerns of our fellow citizens and to see the tough decisions being made.

The day ended with a great opportunity to speak at the Naples Republican Club followed by a packed-house event hosted by Patriots for Trump Club at Stoney’s with amazing people who love and care about our country and our community! What a great night!
It was another valuable week of talking with citizens of Collier County from networking events to informative meetings, I’m grateful for the opportunity to meet new people (and see some old friends) on this journey.
