Apologies for not getting you an April Buzz - been buzzy selling homes at the Beach!
2nd Street Tavern is now open (in the former Buttery space) and ohmigosh, the food is soooo good! Chef Shane Kellagher knows his way around a kitchen. My faves so far are the Elote Salad that includes roasted street corn and a jalapeno lime vinaigrette, and the Red & Golden Beet Salad with whipped goat cheese. Scallops also got rave reviews at my table. The interior of the home (built in the 1890s) has a fresh, new open feel - I'm sure it will be a hot spot in Lewes this summer! Congrats to Wilson Gates & Fam!
LOVE the new
Nalu in Rehoboth - that bar top is gorgeous (it changes colors - check out the FB photos). Open every day starting at 11 - I highly recommend any drink starting with the words Pineapple Whip... just sayin'.
Breakfast Guru is now open on Wilmington Avenue in Rehoboth, seven days a week, 7:00 - 4:00. Haven't been yet but Facebook reviews are good.
Planet Smoothie is opening near FINS on the Highway.
Station on Kings will soon be open for dinner.
Ran into the
Rehoboth Foodie at the opening of
2nd Street Tavern
, and he was excited about
Pomodoro Pizza in Bethany. His online
review says "The moment I took my first bite, I was reminded of some of the best pizza I have ever eaten ... at Louie & Ernie’s in the Bronx." High praise indeed! The Foodie also reported that
Steamin' Blues Crabhouse (in the old Jake's in Rehoboth) will open May 8.

Was sad to hear my beloved Millsboro Bazaar closed, but delighted to learn that
The House of Modern Living
has taken its place! Michael Rispoli, William Meisch, and a darling dog named Tyra have opened a mid-century furniture and accessories store with items from the fifties to the 80’s. 934-1800 If you visit, please tell them the BUZZ sent you!
Great weather this week which makes me want to get on the water! Excited for
Cape Water Tours & Taxi to start their season (May 17). It's one of my favorite things to do here - live music, lighthouse tours, osprey banding and more. Total fun!
I will never forget the first time I saw the
Memorial Wall, part of the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. The long black granite walls are etched with more than 58,000 names of those who died. It was so profound, visitors spoke only in whispers or openly cried. A half size replica, called the
Moving Wall, is coming to Lewes
May 16 - May 20 at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal. It will be open to the public 24 hours a day - free of charge.
My family was here over Easter, including a 3 year old and an 8 year old, and the egg hunts got rained out. Ninja Nana to the rescue with
Shell We Bounc
e, where everyone had an amazing time. The place is the size of Texas with all different styles of trampolines, dodge ball, foam pits, video games, super slide and more! Highly recommend :)
Delaware by the Sea Womenade

Congrats to dear friends Myrna Kelly and Dottie Cirelli who won a Rehoboth Main Street Cottage & Town Award for their beautiful garden. Award ceremony is May 5. More details

Already a huge fan of
Jayne's Reliable in Dagsboro, and now I have another fun place I like to visit -
Pieces on Main, housed in a cool building that was a general store in the 1800s. Owner Karen Murray is delightful and a huge fan of bees, so her shop is chock full of things I have to have (like my cute new bee door mat). She sells lots of other cool new & vintage items...furniture too!
Worth the trip:
MOD Pizza in Dover - I kid you not - this is fast food done right. Uber fresh, tasty ingredients with fun twists, like Asiago cheese instead of just mozzarella; a balsamic drizzle finish for your pizza, Caramelized Pear Ice Tea, salads with red quinoa, dairy free cheese option, gluten free crust option - can't say enough good things. If I were to open a franchise at the beach, this would be it.
Paul Lovett, who has lived in Rehoboth all his life, has created a diorama of Rehoboth Avenue (circa 1910), including the railroad station and the buildings that existed at the time.
I love the photos on
Paul's FB page
this is
one is of the Marvel Hotel
that now houses the Back Porch Cafe.
A portion of my real estate commissions go to support
Best Friends
in Utah, which is the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for animals; and
Monkey's House
which is a hospice for dogs. Watch a
great video
about them here.
