Bee in the Know! Here's the latest Buzz from the Delaware Beaches
Fall in, oh lovely Buzz readers! Autumn has arrived...

Music is on the Menu! I smile every time I drive past the new Taco Reho on Route 1 (aka Coastal Highway). There’s a drum set front and center in the second floor window because music will be a BIG part of this new location. No surprise there - Owner/Chef Billy Lucas has cooked for Lady GaGa, The Eagles, Black Sabbath, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Michael Buble, and more. Can’t wait till they open. Wait, what? You haven't been to the Taco Reho food truck (parked in front of Big Chill Surf Cantina)? This ain't yo mama's Taco Bell! The tortillas are made from scratch, every day, and the food is amazing! Go now. Seriously. Trust me on this.

The longer I live here, the more I discover, and music is a huge part of that. Our roots run deep! There’s not one, but TWO Jazz festivals coming this October. The True Blue Jazz Festival runs Oct 13-17; the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival runs Oct 14-17.

Then there’s Paul Cullen, who does in-home cooking/concerts, and hosts amazing events and weekend brunches at Paul’s Kitchen. He also played with Bad Company.

Bob Yesbek with the 2nd Time Around trio, local Foodie extraordinaire, and radio host, created Omega Studios, one of the largest recording studios on the East Coast. He has great stories about recording Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, and many more.

Of course, there's Sam Calagione, Dogfish creator and a music man from head to toe, who built a stage in his Rehoboth restaurant, loves, LOVES vinyl and gave us ten years of Analog-A-Go-Go! The first Thursday of every month, from 4:30 to 6:30, a DJ spins vinyl at the Dogfish Head Tasting Room in Milton - next one is Oct 7.

What about Shining Sol Candle Company in downtown Rehoboth, founded by award winning musician, producer, and author Pete Evick who has worked with Bret Michaels (from the rock band Poison) as guitarist and music director?

The Seaford Community Concert Association presents their 73rd Season starting with Let’s Rock Broadway with the Diamonds, then the Bridge & Wolak, Black Market Trust, Holy Roca Rollaz, Mark Kingswood, and M5 Mexican Brass. (I have to say that Black Market Trust looks VERY entertaining!) For more details click here.

The Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD” returns to the Cinema Art Theater Oct 18 with Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov. Also screening throughout the season are: Fire Shut Up in My Bones, Eurydice, Cinderella – Holiday Production, Rigoletto, Ariadne auf Naxos, don Carlos, Turandot, Lucia di Lammermoor and Hamlet.  In addition to the opera performance, the HD series includes live interviews with cast and crew members, as well as behind-the-scene features.

Oct 9 is the 4th Annual Historic Cottages Tour featuring the oldest cottages in Bethany Beach – four of the cottages are from the original six families that created Bethany in 1903.

Into the Mystic 369, a metaphysics store offering gemstones, crystals, tarot readings and handmade jewelry, is now open on Rehoboth Avenue.

Another opening in downtown Rehoboth is Ava's and YUMMM! The lemon vinaigrette on the Fennel/Arugulas salad is sublime, the Bianca (white pizza) is ridiculously good, (thin, crisp crust), and my partners in crime could NOT stop talking about the meatballs. They even have beignets for dessert. Very happy with this new addition to the food scene.

Drift will occupy the former Seafood Shack structure on Baltimore Avenue. They'll specialize in "dishes from the sea." The house was built in 1890 - how cool is that?

Taste of the South Bistro, a southern inspired Bistro and Bakery offering family style breakfasts, brunches and lunches, is now open! They are located in the Taormina Square Shopping Center in Longneck.

The Irish Rose on North Walnut Street in Milford is expanding! I love this shop and its history is precious! Read about it here.

Wings & Wheels is back Oct 2 at the Delaware Coastal Airport in Georgetown, featuring military aircraft, a classic car show, WWII Re-enactors encampment, food, crafts, the USNA Parachute Team, helicopter rides and more!

The Spirit Halloween store is now open in the old Peebles space (near Walmart) and there's a Halloween sale at New Life Thrift store starting Oct 4. (Did you know the Buzz website has a HUGE list of all the local thrift stores? Just sayin'...) The Bridgeville Apple-Scrapple Festival is Oct 8-9.

Greyhounds Reach the Beach is set for Oct 6-10. Then Oct 16 is Bark on the Boards, a fundraiser for the Brandywine Valley SPCA. Entertainment includes the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus, a pet costume contest, a drag show, live music, fire twirling, puppy yoga and circus artists. Oh my.

Oct 16 is also ZOMBIE Fest in Milton - more details here. For more spooky fun, how about the Mysteries of History Walking Tour – the Tombstones of St. Peter’s Cemetery on Oct 30.

Zoom zoom! There is nothing you can't do online these days - I'm taking a Tai Chi class from the Lewes Senior Center, listening to authors from the History Book Festival and chatting with chefs through the Browesabout/Edible Delmarva/Lewes Library collaboration.
