**Parking changes**

As we prepare for our next farmers market, we have unfortunate news to share for our customers who drive. We have learned that the parking lot of the Hollywood Square building on 44th Avenue has become permit-only parking, and Hollywood Farmers Market shoppers no longer have permission to park in that lot.

HFM shoppers can still park on-street, or on the third floor of the Whole Foods parking garage (entrance on NE Tillamook St). We ask that shoppers please continue to not park in the Grocery Outlet parking lot, unless you're shopping at the Grocery Outlet before you shop at the farmers market. Please honor this request, as maintaining a good relationship with Grocery Outlet is what makes our market possible.

A big thanks to all of you for being understanding and flexible during this transition. And extra special appreciation to our shoppers who bike, walk, carpool or take transit to the farmers market!

As we move into February, the heat of summer feels distant, but there are bits of it that have been captured in bottles. You can find hot sauce and pickles at Gales Meadow Farm and Naked Acres Farm, delicious tomato butternut sauce from No Mess Chef, tangy ferments from The Fermentista and honey-sweetened jams at Nature's Wild Harvest. In addition to preserves, we will have the freshest winter greens, bread, cheese and so much more!

Returning this week: Freeland Spirits, Robyn's Craft Bakehouse, and Jimmy Tomato.

Out this week: 503 Distilling, Westward Whiskey Distillery and Linda Brand Crab & Seafood. Both Bliss Nut Butters and Nourishment are unexpectedly out again this Saturday, but will return February 15th. Sadly, Fraga Farmstead Creamery will be off for the rest of the winter.
Find exquisite truffles this weekend to add a burst of flavor to your favorite dishes. Most commonly, black truffles are shaved raw atop a meal for a finishing touch. They are an excellent addition to pasta or eggs. Stop by Peak Forest Fruit to find them.

Swing by Hollywood Farmers Market this weekend and fill yourself with warm ramen, a tamale or cup of coffee. Tables will be overflowing with the local bounty. We look forward to seeing you!

Kale and Roasted Red Kuri Salad

Note: this recipe works well with almost any winter squash - delicata, kabocha, etc.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 large red kuri squash
  • 2 large bunches lacinato kale
  • coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup hazelnuts
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 1/3 cup mild white miso
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3 tablespoons minced shallot (one small shallot)
  • one large, juicy lemon
  • salt
  • pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Peel and cut red kuri squash in half, remove all seeds and strings. Cut into 1" chunks.
  • Toss squash lightly in coconut oil, sprinkle with salt and roast for 35-40 minutes, or until soft.
  • While squash is roasting prepare kale by washing and removing stems. Set aside.
  • Prepare dressing by combining tahini, miso, garlic, shallot, and juice from one lemon. Add additional water until dressing reaches creamy and pourable consistency.
  • Rough chop hazelnuts and place in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook until nuts are lightly browned and fragrant. Remove from heat and pan. Set aside.
  • When squash is almost done roasting, lightly coat frying pan with coconut oil and cook kale in two batches over medium-low heat until wilted.
  • On a large serving plate pile cooked kale, roasted squash, cranberries, and hazelnuts. Dress to your preference, and top with salt pepper.
