 Market Updates
Come on out to market this Saturday and make the most of the final rays of sunshine as this glorious, long summer comes to a close. This Saturday will be the final day for the season for the Village Crepery and Boondockers Farm--don't miss your last chance to enjoy a delicious breakfast crepe! We're happy to welcome back on-call vendors Dancing Light Ranch, Home Grown, Lonesome Whistle, & New Deal Distillery. Mt. Hood Organic Farms returned to market last week, and will be back this week with their organic, biodynamic apples and pears!

This Saturday will be the last Kids' Cooking Demo of the season with Joanna Sooper of Turnip the Heat Cooking School. Joanna will be set up in her usual space in the middle of Hancock St, making a butternut squash/apple salad roll from 10am to 12pm. Drop by with the kids and thank Joanna for an awesome season!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 25th, for our annual Hollyween Family and Pet Parade! It's a chance to bring your costumed family or four-legged friend and show your stuff. The parade will begin at 11am.

See you at the market!

Lloyd Farmers Market - Open all winter long!

Have you been to the Lloyd Farmers Market lately? If you didn't get a chance to make it during the summer, never fear - the farmers market will continue on, every Tuesday, through the winter! We have the unique benefit of being entirely under the cover of a huge beautiful gazebo, so we stay cozy and dry no matter what the weather. The Lloyd Farmers Market is located in the Oregon Square Courtyard on NE Holladay, between 7th and 9th Aves, right next to the 7th Ave MAX stop. The market hours are 10am to 2pm.

Some of the vendors at the Lloyd Farmers Market might be familiar to you from Hollywood Farmers Market, since we manage both markets. Our newest addition is Persephone Farm, a 55-acre certified organic produce farm in Lebanon, OR (outside Corvallis). You will know Persephone from their longtime and overflowing booth at HFM. Also, if (like many of us) you're addicted to Nourishment's breakfast burritos, Nourishment is also at the Lloyd Farmers Market to give you your fix, selling bean/rice bowls, chilequiles, and soups. Other overlapping vendors are Nature's Wild Harvest and Kiyokawa Family Orchards.

And of course, as you know from the Hollywood Farmers Market, the winter can be a bountiful time for local agriculture, even if the weather is a tad dreary. Some of the products available this fall and winter include apples, beets, breads, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chanterelles, chestnuts, chilequiles, coffee, collard greens, cookies, eggs, garlic, goat milk soap, greens, hazelnuts, herbs, honey, hummus, jam, kale, mushrooms, onions, pastries, pears, popcorn, potatoes, prunes, rice/bean bowls, salamis, soup, spinach, tamales, turnips, winter squash. Is your mouth watering yet? See below for a full list of vendors at the market.

Whether you're looking for a tasty healthy lunch, some midweek grocery shopping, or just a quick snack, the Lloyd Farmers Market has got you covered! To get more information on the market, or to sign up for our weekly email updates, go to www.lloydfarmersmarket.com or our Facebook.

Delicata Squash
Sun Gold Farm
Sun Gold Farm has got a lotta Delicata! For many of us, this is the ideal fall/winter squash, with a smooth texture, nutty-sweet flavor, and a skin so thin that it doesn't need to be peeled. Try cutting it up into cubes or rings and sauteeing or roasting it with olive oil.

Dried Beans
Lonesome Whistle Farm
Lonesome Whistle Farm started the market in August with grains (including popcorn!), and as the season's harvest has come in, have added various heirloom dried beans to their offerings. They currently have black turtle beans, vintage pink beans, and Indian Woman yellow bean. The Indian Woman is consistently a customer favorite; it's a creamy light bean with a black beanish flavor.

Fresh Apple Cider
ProFarm Produce
It's apple cider time! Pro Farm uses a blend of three different types of apples, but don't ask them which three, because the exact varieties and quantities are a family secret. They have been producing fresh apple cider (no sugars or additives) for five years and it has become one of their hottest sellers. The containers are expandable, so they are perfect for freezing. Be sure to stock up for winter!

Home Grown
Home Grown's sauerkraut is a traditional one, made with only cabbage and salt, and lacto-fermented to build healthy probiotic cultures. All their cabbage is sourced from small local farmers, and the kraut is made in McMinville, Oregon. Stop by their booth and try it this Saturday - the flavor is tangy and delicious!
