Market Updates
-----------------
July never ceases to amaze the taste buds, and with tart and sour cherries and apple cider coming in from Kiyokawa Family Orchards and early season peaches from Maryhill Fruit Company, tomorrow's market is no exception. It's also time to start salivating over tomato varieties, picking up pickling cucumbers (and beans, and beets, and carrots, and more), and swooning for stone fruit. With 27 different farmers, ranchers, and foragers and another 29 craft and artisan local food makers you are sure to find something to fall in love with this Saturday.

We have Cranberry Kitchen, Dragonfly Forge, Fire Brew, Leikam Brewing, Rise Up Remedies, Townshend's Distillery, and Wet Wizard Sauce Co. joining us this week. And after a week away Suzette Creperie, SMALL Baking Co, Sage & Sea Farms and One Stripe Chai return.

It's Senior Appreciation Day at the market, and we have discounts, a FREE raffle, and community organizations at market just for our 65 and over customers. See below for full details about the day.

Have any cook books, gardening guides, or food related magazine piling up at home? You can donate them the HFM Community Library. Now that the steady rain has started to give way to sunshine, our community library is out at market every week. Head toward the center of market between Nourishment and our music tent to find the library. There you may leave or take a variety of cookbooks, food magazines, and nutrition guides. The selection available changes week to week, so it's always worth taking a glance to see if there's something there for you.

We look forward to seeing you at the market!
This Saturday is Senior Appreciation Day!

This Saturday is our annual Senior Appreciation Day! Seniors (65 and older) can stop by the information booth tomorrow and pick up coupons for 20% off purchases at Hollywood Farmers Market that day only. They can also enter a raffle to receive a free basket of farmers market goodies!

Fresh Lavender
Dancing Light Ranch
Fresh lavender is finally here! If you ever want to learn about different lavender varieties, Don at Dancing Light is the one to ask. Right now, they have "Royal Velvet", which has a dark, deep purple color that holds even after drying. It's great as a general culinary lavender. This is also the first week Don will have 'Grosso' (also called 'Lavandin', which is a more appetizing name). Grosso has very strong fragrance, great for drying and crafting.

Montmorency Pie Cherries
Peak Forest Fruit
A special treat that only shows up for a few weeks each summer, due to its delicacy. Show up early for these; Lars at Peak Forest says this Saturday may be the last week to get them. Perfect for cherry pies, cobblers, and tarts!

Chasselas Doré
Laurel Ridge Winery
This white wine comes from Chasselas, a grape variety grown widely in Switzerland but not as well known in the US. Laurel Ridge's Chasselas Doré is a dry and fruity white wine, with notes of peach blossom and nectarine. It's ideal paired with a soft creamy cheese.
