Market Updates
We are in the thick of the holiday season! Hanukkah is wrapping up, but we still have the Solstice, Christmas, and Kwanzaa to go!
Don't worry -- you still have plenty of time to shop local for the holidays!

Northfork53 is visiting on Saturday, with hand blended teas, gift sets, cards, and immunity-boosting elixirs. PDX Urban Gardens is bringing small batch, locally-sourced lip balms in compost-able containers. Nature's Wild Harvest will have gift sets with local raw honeys and wild berry syrups. Get lavender sachets, salves, spritzers and more at Dancing Light Ranch.

And of course, there will be an abundance of fresh, local, seasonal food to grace your holiday table! Use deep leafy greens for a Make Ahead Kale Ceasar Salad. Maple Roasted Acorn Squash is a simple and elegant addition to any holiday table. And for meat-eaters, humanely raised, pastured meats can be found at Pine Mountain Ranch, Naked Acres Farm, Deck Family Farm, and Birkeland Farm.

Rain or shine, Saturday's market will be filled with good food and good cheer. See you there!

Give today to feed families and farmers!
Many of your neighbors are facing food insecurity this holiday season. A randomized survey of 2000 Americans showed that 40% experienced food insecurity for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic. At Hollywood Farmers Market, use of the Double Up Food Bucks program in 2020 has increased by 40%. We need your help now more than ever before.

Put fresh, local produce on your neighbor's dinner table by giving to the Hollywood Farmer's Market's Double Up Food Bucks program.Every $10 you give means one more family can buy fresh, local fruits and vegetables. Make a gift to Double Up Food Bucks today - because everyone deserves to eat healthy, fresh food.

Donations to this campaign are tax-deductible, thanks to our fiscal sponsor Farmers Market Fund. Farmers Market Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and contributions to the Fund are tax deductible to the extent the law allows.

Donations can also be made by cash or check! You can bring cash or check donations to the farmers market info booth this Saturday, or mail your check to PO Box 13233, Portland, OR 97213. Checks should be made out to "Farmers Market Fund", with "Hollywood Farmers Market" in the memo line.
RIP Jeff Falen of Persephone Farm, 1957-2020
We were deeply saddened last week to learn that Jeff Falen of Persephone Farm passed away on Friday, December 4th. He was a giant in the Oregon organic farming community, operating Persephone Farm for 35 years, and we knew him to be a warm, generous and thoughtful person who will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

Our condolences go to Jeff's farm and life partner Elanor O'Brien, and everyone else at the farm.
We are very grateful for you all continuing to wear masks to protect our vendors, staff and each other! Note that face shields may not be used as a substitute for face coverings/masks. Thank you for keeping the Hollywood Farmers Market safe!
