This Saturday at the Hollywood Farmers Market, your local food producers will be showing up to provide essential goods to the community. As always, they come bearing an array of nutrient-dense, healthful foods that are in the prime of the season. We welcome back Portland Juice Company with certified organic juices, and Dancing Light Ranch with lovely lavender products including luscious, lavender salve to help moisten dry hands.

Spring is an exciting time of year (especially when the sun peeks out) but we ask that customers do their part to keep crowds down by only sending only one representative from their household - or better yet their community - to do the shopping for others. Additionally, wearing a mask or simple cloth over your nose and mouth can reduce the risk of virus transmission.

It is not easy to follow all the rules all the time, but they are important, so thank you for your participation in supporting public safety at our farmers market!

Off this week are: 503 Distilling, Central City Coffee, Fire Brew, Fleur De Lis Bakery, Flying Coyote Farm, Freeland Spirits, Gabriel's Bakery, Happy Harvest Farm, The Fermentista, and Westward Whiskey Distillery.

Additionally, please remember that general shopping takes place between 9am and 1pm. Between 8am and 9am we will observe Vulnerable Population Shopping Hour.

You can now preorder directly from Hollywood Farmers Market vendors through our  WhatsGood app!

Preordering in advance of the farmers market will allow you to limit the amount of time and interaction at the market, while still ensuring that you get the items you need. Consider just sending one person from your community to pick up preorders for more than one household (family, friends or neighbors).

More vendors are joining the app every day! In addition, many of our vendors are offering preordering options on their websites or by email. See this page on our website for current preorder information.

Double your Double Up Food Bucks in April!

Through the end of April, we have increased the weekly Double Up Food Bucks match to $20!

This means that SNAP shoppers can double up to $20 at each participating farmers market each week. Double your double up this Saturday at Hollywood Farmers Market!
Recipe: Broccoli Rabe with a Hint of Pork

  • 1 pound broccoli rabe (purple sprouting broccoli, or other rapini can subsitute)
  • ¼ pound pork shoulder or boneless pork tenderloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon minced lemongrass (or substitute lemon zest)
  • 3 or 4 dried red chiles
  • 1½ teaspoons miso paste
  • 1 to 1½ cups water
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste

If broccoli rabe has tough ends, chop off and discard. Cut the greens into 2-inch lengths.

Cut the pork slices crosswise into approximately 1-inch lengths; set aside.

Place a wok or wide heavy pot over medium-high heat. Add the oil, and when it is hot, toss in the sliced garlic. Cook, stirring, for about 30 seconds, then add the lemongrass and chiles and stir. Raise the heat to high, toss in the pork, and stir and turn to break up any clumps and ensure that all surfaces get exposed to the hot oil. Once the meat has changed color, a minute or two, add the chopped greens, and stir and turn to mix well.

Mix the miso paste into 1 cup water and add, together with the salt. Bring to a boil, cover, lower the heat slightly to maintain the boil, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until the broccoli rabe is just tender. Add another ½ cup or more water if you want more liquid. Taste for salt and adjust if necessary. Serve hot or at room temperature, with rice or noodles.
