Market Updates
At the farmers market, when each household sends just one member to shop, more people can have access to the nutritious food and essential service we provide. According to Governor Kate Brown, "physical distancing will remain a part of our lives until we have the security of a vaccine or treatment for this disease". With a sunny weekend ahead, it is tempting to visit the farmers market with friends or family to have a social outing, but now more than ever, it is important that customers continue to send only one member of their household to shop whenever possible.

Excitingly, more vendors are back from their seasonal break this week! We will have Happy Harvest Farm with beautiful produce from Mt. Angel, OR including delicious strawberries. Hot Mama Salsa will be selling mouth-watering chili oils and seasonal fresh salsas. Westward Whiskey will bring their award winning spirits, which are all brewed, distilled and matured right here in Portland. Additionally, after a few weeks off, Gabriel's Bakery will be rejoining us with their freshly baked breads, pastries and more! Pick up porcini mushrooms for your favorite pasta dish, flowers for a special mother in your life, and so much more.
Back this week: Dancing Light Ranch, and Stoneboat Farm.

Off this week: 503 Distilling, Central City Coffee, Flying Coyote Farm, Freeland Spirits, Ken and June's Hazelnuts and Persephone Farm.

Every shopper's observation of our safety guidelines is what supports us to stay safe and stay open. Thank you for your continued engagement. We look forward to seeing you from afar at the market this weekend!

Please support our community health efforts

Like grocery stores, farmers markets continue to operate as essential businesses, and we are taking substantial precautionary measures to keep the farmers market as safe as possible. See our website for more information, as well as what we are asking of you, our shoppers.
Seared Sausage and Rhubarb with Chard

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 pound sweet Italian sausages, pricked with a fork
1 red onion, thinly sliced
1 bunch green, red, or rainbow chard, stems cut into ¼-inch slices, leaves torn into bite-sized pieces
½ pound rhubarb stems, cut into ¼–inch slices
2 tablespoons dried currants
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon garam masala
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated
1 bay leaf

Heat the olive oil in a 12–inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausages and cook until cooked through and well browned all over. Transfer the sausage to a plate.

Add the onion to the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until softened. Stir in the chard stems and continue to cook until the onion is well browned and chard stems are almost tender. Add the rhubarb, currants, maple syrup, garam masala, salt, ginger, and bay leaf to the skillet.

Cook, stirring often, until the rhubarb has fallen apart and the chard stems are tender. If the bottom of the pan begins to scorch, stir in some water, a few tablespoons at a time. Toss in the chard leaves and cook, stirring frequently, until they are wilted. Transfer the chard mixture to a heated serving platter and pluck out the bay leaf.

Return the sausages to the skillet and let them heat through, shaking the pan so they crisp on all sides. Serve the sausage over the rhubarb-chard mixture.
