Market Updates
Get out the galoshes and rain slicker and celebrate the opening of the Main Season at the Hollywood Farmers Market this Saturday. We return to 8am opening and every Saturday schedule, and with a full roster of vendors both old and new there's plenty to explore and enjoy.

Take a full lap around the market, because our vendor row in the Grocery Outlet parking lot is back to kick-off the season. With Deep Roots Farm, Sweet Leaf Farm and ProFarm Orchards returning for spring, and our stronghold of farmers from the winter ( Persephone Farm, Gales Meadow Farm, Sun Gold Farm, Stoneboat Farm, Naked Acres Farm, Deck Family Farm, Birkeland Farm, Fraga Farm, Pine Mountain Ranch), the market is abundant with the best of spring vegetables, eggs, proteins, foraged goods, and more.

With the beginning of the Main Season we also welcome a new crop of vendors, and this Saturday you'll see Lonesome Whistle Farm with and their offering of whole and fresh-milled heirlooms grains, and The Fermentista with seasonal and rotating line-up of lacto-fermented kraut, pickles, and kombucha making their debuts. Stop by, sample their wares, and take home a bag or jar of your new favorite find.

Returning vendors 2 Towns Ciderhouse, Fire Brew, Hot Mama Salsa, Nature's Best-Oregon Honey, NOBULL Specialty Foods, Portland Juice Co, and Townshend's Distillery also join us tomorrow. We'll have new and returning vendors joining throughout April and May, so make sure to visit every week and discover what's fresh at the market.
Farewell to Big B Farm
Some sad news today: after 22 years at the Hollywood Farmers Market, Big B Farm has closed down and owner Frank Battilega is retiring from farming.

This marks the end of an era - Big B was one of our founding vendors back in 1997, and has anchored the southwest corner of the market since we moved to our current site in 2000. Additionally, they were part of a tradition and legacy of Oregon farming that stretches back to Frank's grandfather, who immigrated here from Genoa in the early 1900s. We will miss the bounty, variety and joy that they brought to the farmers market each week.

As a bright spot to this sad news, Big B decided they couldn't leave without one more chance to thank the HFM community. So, Frank and family will be returning on Saturday, June 1st for a Farewell Day! They will set up a small tent near their usual market-day location to say a proper goodbye and thank all of you for your support over the years.
Volunteer at the Hollywood Farmers Market!
If you missed last week's volunteer orientation, but would still like to volunteer at the farmers market this season, you still can! POP Club for Kids will return this summer!
We're excited to announce that last year's pilot kids program POP Club (Power of Produce) will return to Hollywood Farmers Market this summer!

POP Club involves a series of free activities that will run at Hollywood Farmers Market this summer, every Saturday from June 8th through August 31st. POP Club is designed to empower kids to make healthy food choices, introducing them to where their food comes from through fun activities.

Here’s how POP Club works:

  • Kids, aged 5-12 come to the POP Club booth between 9am and 12:30pm on market day (June 8 through Aug 31), located in Hancock Street toward the west (44th Ave) entrance to the market.
  • Fill out their POP Club passports if this is their first visit to the booth.
  • Participate in activities based around food, nutrition and food growing. At every POP Club market you can find activities such as produce tastings, salad-making, scavenger hunts, games and more!
  • Receive $2 in POP Club wooden tokens EVERY time they come to market during the POP Club season!

The start of the program is still a few weeks away, but we're looking forward to reconnecting with the kids who participated last year, and connecting with a whole new crop of farmers market kids!
