First State Bank Makes Leadership Pledge
to the Campaign for the New London Public Library

New London, WI - First State Bank has pledged $100,000 to the New London Public Library’s Heart of Our Community Campaign. Made earlier this month, it is the first pledge received at a Benefactor level by an area business for the new mix-use development at the site of the former Wolf River Lumber property. The library will move from its current location on Pearl Street and will be the heart of the riverfront development that includes residential and commercial entities.

“First State Bank is excited to take a leadership role in initiatives that can reinvigorate our downtown and help attract and retain residents and businesses in our community,” said First State Bank President, Bob Van Asten. “The new library and other development efforts slated for the south side of the Wolf River are a tremendous first step to what we envision leading to additional revitalization efforts in our downtown. We hope other businesses and individuals will join us and the other donors who have already committed their support to make the new library a reality.”

“We are truly grateful for this wonderfully generous pledge and investment by First State Bank to the campaign. We are thrilled that the community sees the value to invest in a new library and riverfront development and views it as an asset to the city of New London,” said Library Director, Ann Hunt. “We are very thankful to those who have already made donations and pledges. With a goal to break ground by the fall of 2020, we will be launching a public campaign in the next several months.”

First State Bank has served New London as an independent community bank since 1933 and has additional offices in Clintonville, Manawa, Waupaca, Cecil, and Rudolph.
