This Week at Mount Hope // May 26-31, 2020

Welcome to this week's edition of the LOOP.  In this email, you will find everything that's happening over the next few weeks within our Mount Hope Community.

This time of living through this crisis has not been easy and has certainly come with its share of challenges.  There have been many uncertainties.  There have been many emotions ranging from frustration to fear.  However, despite what we see and feel in the world around us, it is comforting to know God is still control and still has much for us to learn during this pandemic.

It is also comforting to know that we are not the first to be living through a time of quarantine.  In fact, there are people in the Bible who lived through quarantine times. This week we take a look at one of those people and what we can learn through his time of isolation.

Over the past few days, we've had plenty of developments in the reopening of our communities both locally and nationally. At Mount Hope, our staff is taking the recommendations and guidelines from our towns and state, along with the advice of those on our Reopening Teams, and prayerfully considering when and how to open our facilities for services. Our goal is to reopen in a manner that sustains a safe and healthy environment for all that will attend.

As of now, we have tentatively set Sunday, June 07 as a date for a phased opening of our services. While we will not be able to worship along with you 'normally' as we did before the spread of the virus for a while, our hope is that our phased opening will help get us there. Over the next couple of weeks, we will communicate further on what our reopening plans and setup will look like. With that said, we will continue to worship online as we have done for the last 10 weeks. We are thankful for how you have adjusted to this new normal along with us. Let's keep praying that God will continue to accomplish His work in our community, no matter the circumstances.

With the ever-changing world around is, it is comforting to know that our God never changes.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  No matter the circumstances around us, He is still worthy of our praise and worship.  Please take time to join us on
Tuesday, May 26 at 7pm for a night of worship and prayer online.  Spend time laying your worries and cares of this world at His feet and encounter all that He has for you.

DATE: Tuesday, May 26

During this season of uncertainty, one of the best responses we can have as followers of Jesus is to pray! We would like to invite you to join as we take some time to pray and to seek God over the next few days leading up to Pentecost Sunday. During these ten days, you can join us during our morning and evening devotionals to pray with us. You will also receive a quick email devotional directing us in the prayer topic of the day.

As you are aware, with the spread of COVID-19, and the recommendation of local and national authorities, Mount Hope has suspended all our in-person gatherings and will be meeting online indefinitely.

We will take advantage of the wonderful technology available to us to foster community and to encourage one another. For most of our Online Ministry, we will be using the Zoom Video Communications as the primary tool to host our online gatherings.  For more details about the meetings, please visit our website

Prayer is a vital part of the body of Christ and and a vital part of the family unit.  Though we can't meet together as we normally would, it is important for us to still meet to pray over our families and children.  In fact, during this time of COVID-19, we are in much need of prayer over our families and our children.  Please join us via Zoom to pray together on Saturday, May 30 at 10am.

The Belmont Massachusetts Parents Group Facebook page has found a way to help others during the COVID-19 crisis. Belmont mothers and co-moderators Amy Kirsch, Shana Wang, Kristi Armstrong, and Fitzie Cowing have recruited more than 100 volunteers from Belmont Massachusetts Helps Out to help deliver groceries and meals or pick up prescriptions for individuals in the Belmont and Watertown area who are unable to leave their homes because they are ill, quarantined or have young children.

If you would like to help, you may  sign up to Volunteer by clicking here. You may also help your Belmont community by  making a donation that will go toward helping those who are critically in need. Meanwhile, if you would like to stay updated on COVID-19 Crisis in Belmont, please  click here

Burlington's  People Helping People is a nonprofit organization, and under its umbrella, the Burlington Food Pantry will be providing meals and assistance to the many families who are affected by the COVID-19 Crisis.

Burlington Public School are not meeting in their facilities currently, thus causing an interruption in the program that provides families with free and reduced lunches. This is where People Helping People will step in.  This week alone they will be providing groceries to 80+ families with the help of Volunteers and donations. Families with children will also receive a week's worth of breakfasts and lunches. They need your help to keep this program going.  If you would like to help  by volunteering or by making a donation please click here .

In Metro Boston, the Chelsea and East Boston communities have been hardest hit with the coronavirus, and they have a large number of families that will not be able to benefit from the federal stimulus money. A significant need has been mentioned by serving organizations in those communities for items that most food pantries are not able to provide to families (such as diapers, baby formula, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, and sanitary napkins). This campaign has been created to raise funds to purchase diapers, baby formula, and other needed items for families in Chelsea and Boston (particularly families identified by the cities and partnering churches and organizations).

If you would like to help, please donate to this fund by clicking here. You may also visit Emmanuel Gospel Center's website to learn more.

We invite you to join our Online Mount Hope Community Facebook Group. This group is a good place to connect with other members of the Mount Hope Community. Our children are a gift from the Lord! As parents, we often need help along the way to raise children who glorify God and positively impact the world around them. As we come across resources and tools that we find helpful regarding parenting and/or family related topics, we like to share them with the parents in our community.
When we get married, we all hope to have a marriage that thrives and is full of joy. But as we experience life, we realize that this takes hard work and we often help from those who've "been there." Whether you're just starting out, have been married for a while and need some encouragement, or doing well in your marriage, this ministry is for you!
As a part of our ministry at Mount Hope, we offer budget planning and financial counseling services for those looking for wisdom and direction in that area. With our partnership with Beantown Money, these services are available to everyone in the Mount Hope Community at a reduced cost.
Serving at Mount Hope can be one of the best ways to get connected with the church and our communities! Whether it's serving with children, First Impression, Audio/Visual, or leadership, you won't regret getting involved at Mount Hope.
